I imagine It's a law written for TV, to try and increase ball in play time.

They get one free kick for engaging or pushing early, after that I go straight to penalties.

To be honest all the reasonably priced ones are pretty crap and have various problems. You get what you pay for. We use Axiwi which are nt cheap. but also arent mega expensive. They work well for us, but I know some people don't like them. The newest version is much better than the older ones.

Being offside is not itself an offence. It's the interfering with play that gets you pinged. If a player was lying on the floor, or maybe on one knee, I'm probably not (never say never) going to ping him....maybe. But a lot depends on the level of the game as well.

Lots of offsides by Red, I think I would have had a couple in the bin by the end. Lots of chances to end the game as well. Did I see a knock on by white and an accidental offside by white when the ball carrier ran into one of his own team in front of him. So much to talk about in that sequence...

I find with Asics I always have to buy a size bigger than normal.

If we accept that the half had finished before the foul play occurred. Law 20.1 Infringement while the ball is dead. Location of penalty or free kick. - At the point where play would have restarted or, if that place is on the touchline or within 15 metres of it, the mark is on the 15-metre...

Maybe the ref decided the half was over when the maul went into touch (as time was up), but didn't get chance to blow for half time due to the scuffle. If the half is over the penalty is awarded where play would restart, which would be the second half kick off.

Is there a question in there or are you just having a go at the ref? Sounds like a dynamic situation, and which of us hasn't said something only for the situation to change seconds later? Use it is called when the ball is available to be played, if there is a counter ruck that might no longer be...

That sounds a lot different. Like anything in life, take what's useful, ignore what isn't. Working with AR's is a skill that has to be learnt. Being an AR is the same. You will quite often get an inexperienced AR who is trying to do the referees job, instead of supporting him/her.
