Considering getting some new boots, and I’d like your feedback based on what you’re all wearing at the moment.

Anyone picked up a new pair recently and been very happy, or unhappy, with them? Ideally, more readily available brands - a recent(ish) thread waxed lyrical about ASICS gel but these seem to be unavailable in the US or UK.

How do you personally prefer to size them - do you prefer very snug to avoid the boot moving around the foot, or prefer more room for comfort? (I’ve always selected on the tighter side out of habit from my long-gone playing days and now longer term comfort is more a premium now.)

Anyone use inserts - the joys of the aging Achilles - if so, which brand and how much do you add onto your size to allow for it?

Would love Asics, but won't touch them until I am able to try on pairs before buying.

Three "big box" sporting goods stores near me (Scheels, Academy, Dicks), and none carry Asics studded boots.

I found these on the Asics website, but I have had sizing issues for years, and do not want to have to have to send back 3-4 pairs to find the right size (assuming it's even in stock).

I find with Asics I always have to buy a size bigger than normal.

I only referee on very firm ground, so I use Brooks Trail Runners- snug.

Back in the US it was Asics Gel - my preferred was their old Lacrosse boot.
