To be worn tonight at the pre-season friendly v Cardiff.
What do you think?

The design elements of the new shirt are taken from Leicester's early years. Some time around 1885, the team played in an orange and brown kit, which led to a journalist from the Leicester Daily Post using the nickname 'Tigers' for the first time. The orange base of the new shirt is therefore surmounted by bold flecks of black and white to represent the markings of a tiger. Shorts and socks are also orange.

So when did green become their colour?

A) mere regurgitation of the marketing men's psychobabble, each new design is similarly justified IIRC
B) constant kit design changes are a fan fleecing illness
C) should aid peripheral vision
D) matches my boots
E) you selling off old stocks?
F) will make cockers more difficult to spot when he's banned from the touchline :)

Looks OK though
PS, I still wear this to England matches, determined to resist commercial exploitation as much as practicable.http://www.rugbyrefs.com/image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQAAAQABAAD/2wCEAAkGBxQQEhQSEA8QEA8QFRQQEA8PDw8PDw8PFBQWFhQUFR UYHCggGBolHBUUITEhJSkrLi4uFx8zODMsNyguLisBCgoKDg0O To be worn tonight at the pre-season friendly v Cardiff.
What do you think?

2980

The design elements of the new shirt are taken from Leicester's early years. Some time around 1885, the team played in an orange and brown kit, which led to a journalist from the Leicester Daily Post using the nickname 'Tigers' for the first time. The orange base of the new shirt is therefore surmounted by bold flecks of black and white to represent the markings of a tiger. Shorts and socks are also orange.

Tango with the Tigers

Will these be the new fans

Mixed memories of this one - we hired these beauties in South Africa and kitted them out with dresses and Dutch flags for guerrilla marketing at the South African football World Cup.
Then got our wrists well and truly slapped for breaking the World Cup sponsorship regs and also for promoting a beer. Anyone (except BFG) recall which brand it was and what was odd ?

I prefer the Tiger's new jersey to Munster's lime green change strip.

Photo on club's website (http://www.munsterrugby.ie/news/18822.php#.VAG2hCFd7cs)

Munster wore their new alternate kit when they faced Gloucester away (in the first preseason game) on Saturday August 23rd at Kingsholm. They were hammered! Unlucky jersey? Luck doesn't come into it.

Yes, the second largest brewery in the Netherlands produces 500 million litres of non-alcoholic beer per year. Or maybe not.

...What on earth were they thinking?Thoughts along the lines of "How do we generate more merchandising revenue this season?"

Though Rugby still has got along way to catch up with Football's Money League (http://www.businessofsoccer.com/2014/02/18/how-do-soccer-clubs-make-money/). The link on that page to Deloitte’s pdf is worth a squint. With gate-money decreasing each year, merchandising is becoming more important to clubs.

No muckin' about there from Castro.

Getting back to the Tiger's kit, what is the significance of the letter on the left breast of their jersey? I noticed it in the game against Toulon. No. 1 has the letter A, 2 has B, 3 has C and so on.

It's a nod in the direction of the old days when Leicester numbered their shirts A, B, C etc instead of using numbers. It's also why their front row was known as the ABC club.

I had seen letters on jumpers before so I assumed it was a nostalgia thing with the Tigers.
Thank god we don't have letters now. Having said that, we had a season where one of our local clubs decided it would be a good idea to assign every player in their club with their own number. Hence the senior 1st XV started with No.1 right down to the under 8s who had the smallest shirts with the biggest & highest numbers somewhere in the vicinity of the mid 200s.
Bloody nightmare at first. "Green one hundred and seventy seven, roll".
All of the pre-printed match sheets had to be manually altered (except for the 1st team) for example to cross out 10 and replace with 234 J Bloggs.
It lasted one season.

We have one junior club in Sydney that does letters, Harbord Harlequins. Takes some getting used to.
