Red are attacking and kick ahead. Ball goes into In-Goal and stops just short of the Dead Ball Line.

A Red attacker and White defender chase for the ball and after a bit of shouldering (legitimate) the White defender then kicks the ball over the Dead Ball Line.

And your decision for how to restart would be .... ?

[Apologies for cross-thread, but I only just found this specialist section of the forum where it belongs - see here (http://www.rugbyrefs.com/showthread.php?18193-Ball-in-goal-kicked-over-dead-ball-line-by-defender)for the original post.]

because red put the ball into white's in goal, if the ball subsequently goes dead it will be a 22m.

Yes and that's what I gave.

The Red scrum-half gave me chapter and verse on his view of the laws which was close to a Yellow and a 32m penalty!

Well done.

You should've awarded his team a corner he'd have probably gone with that.

I would have offered him a chair and 10 minutes to read law 22.
