It's is with great sadness that I have just learnt the death of Colin High. Colin was a member of both Furness & Manchester Referees Society and International panel referee as well as a member and former captain of my club Hawcoat Park (formerly Vickers) RUFC.
Colin made it all the way to the top of world rugby from a real rugby outpost.
I'm sure many of our more senior contributors will remember him.
Could always rely on him to have a chat in the club bar no matter where in the world he had been the Saturday before

I can only remember seeing Colin referee once, in 1990 when he had the whistle at Carisbrook for the All Blacks v Scotland (who were Five Nations and Grand Slam Champions at the time!!)

Very sad news. I remember a brief chat with him when he was reffing at Wasps. Top ref. Top man.

Very sad news. Met him once at a (high end) time-share event in the early noughties. Interesting chap with to whom to talk, and spared me time to talk refereeing as I had just taken up the whistle. Easy manner and loads of anecdotes.

Condolences to all
