I am well aware of the standard issue RFU Gilbert issue tops - 3 versions in the last few years Virtuo/Evolution, Storm, & Blitz.

Do any Society Advisers /Assessors / Ref Coaches have recommendations for other kit makes they have found warm, waterproof, wind-proof, enough pockets, internal hand mittens, full length or thigh, etc.

I would love to hear your suggestions and opinions.

Simon, we got Macron coats this year. If you upsize (I don't mean eat more like me) they are OK and warm, although I haven't tried them in the rain and I have heard some folks say "not so good"

Latest is Gilbert - only 2 pockets but seems warm and waterproof (not fully tested this past season). Car-friendly zip that optionally opens from the bottom as well. I preferred the previous Streetwise - 4 pockets but a lot bulkier.

Take a look at the Akuma 3-in-1. I got it. It's my storm wear gear. Wind proof, rain proof, and a detachable fleece layer. Never let me down

We had those when I was at Warwickshire.
Lots of pockets, zip in fleece, hood (only the standard thin one).
Only standard length though so you need waterproof trousers as well.

Best coat I have is a Webb Ellis one.
Waterproof zips, deep pockets, high warm collar, good quality hood.
Don't know if they still make them though?

Did the Warwickshire MOs laugh that much whilst watching you?:)

You could always sit in the car with the heater on :)

Cheers guys - very helpful and much appreciated.

I had thought of including waterproof trousers too but the budget is limited.
