The recent furore over the Sam Cane v Robbie Henshaw collision in the second test between Ireland and New Zealand got me to thinking about the merits of using slow motion video to make judgements about potential foul play incidents in rugby. I think we have all heard the meme that sometimes, looking ...

Nigel Owens was born on the 18 June 1971 and raised in Mynyddcerrig; a small traditional Welsh speaking village approximately 12 miles from Carmarthen, in south west Wales. As a keen sportsman, Owens played Full Back for the school rugby team, but after missing a crucial match-winning conversion, the teacher made a tongue in cheek comment that he should consider becoming a referee. It was a half joking throw away comment which could have been instantly forgotten, but by happy coincidence it would change his life, because Owens thought to himself Why not? ...

    Increasing lack of respect?

    Thread Starter: Paule23

I'm wondering if other referees are noticing or experiencing a lack of respect from teams and coaches. I have refereed 3 games this season where either the whole (losing) team and coaches, or the vast majority of them, have refused to shake my hand after a game. I appreciate they may have...

Any thoughts about what to give for this? Personally, I thought a YC was right. Spoiler: it's neither shocking, nor a tackle. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/shocking-tackle-thats-left-rugby-12291253

    was that 10m

    Thread Starter: crossref

Did this kick from Ireland v NZ go 10m? Black kick off, the ball travels 9m where it is caught by a black player with his feet on the ground the far side of the 10m line... So is that a 10m kick or not? Here it is in real time, followed after about a minute by a slow motion replay
