Re: Jap v Sco - No Red Card?!?

I think with the below waist tackle line, we'll see the tackler with a higher rate of concussion and a higher rate of spinal injuries (from compression). See the Scottish Player Max (or Tom) Evans,...

Re: End of Game - Did I get it Right?

So, I read that as a scrum or LO awarded (before time has expired) must be completed then the next time the ball goes in-touch/knocked on then the half can end. So in this this case, the pen was...

Re: End of Game - Did I get it Right?

I remember hearing one of the southern hemisphere refs saying a few days ago, that you can't end on a squint throw at a LO. He proceeded with a scrum. (Might've been a Wales match, but I might be...

[Law] Re: Penalty Kick at Goal Rules

On Both of those vids the kicks were clearly for the posts. Just happened to clang against the post on the second one. Try for me is fine, that's why the players chase the kicks.

[Law] Re: Penalty Kick at Goal Rules

I'm with CR on with one. If I'm satisfied it was a genuine kick, I'd award the LO in line with the normal kick for touch PK Laws and award the Kicking team the LO.

[RWC] Re: USA/ARG - Offside from kick

    Here's another wee thought.

    2. If the ball is not charged down but is played or touches an opposition player and a player from the kicker’s side is within the 10 metre area in front of the kick...

[RWC] Re: USA/ARG - Offside from kick

Those of us in the UK (or have UK VPN) can see it on the ITV HUB. If it's the same incident, it's 1:35 ish into the game.

So the Arg player jumps to charge down the kick. It goes up and behind...

Re: The new ERRA Course for Referees

There you go, it's material if spotted. Might not spot it and give benefit of the doubt. But a knock on is a knock on, if possession retained "peep - knock on"

Yeah at young age groups, where the...

Re: The new ERRA Course for Referees

When would a knock on not be material? If a player drops the ball/it slips out of his hands, the offence is always material. As he or a team mate will can gather the ball. Hence you play knock on...

Re: Fra v Ton: Collapsed Scrums

I think he means the last Tongan try. Def wasn't picked up cleanly initially. Seen them given as knock ons like that. But not sure it went forward or straight down.

Re: one flag up, one flag down

I've seen ARs motion side to side with their flags pointing down (or horizontally) when a kick is missed. I thought this was a generally accepted sign the kick has missed.

    If that ever happens to...
  14. [Tackle] Re: I wonder how the game would be if we, referees, actually implemented the Tackle L

Fair enough, but if I drop it, that most likely means that the BC is still holding it too. I don't think I've ever seen a scenario where the jackeler has the ball cleanly and been cleared out to the...

    Re: Rugby is officially dead

Ah, on this point I completely agree with you. There is also a concussion risk with these. I got battered in the face last year, it wasn't a push. The chap ran with a straight arm, right on the nose.

    Re: Rugby is officially dead

I'm guessing CR penalises and cards any kind of contact from the ball carrier, that's not a hand off with an open hand.

[Law] Re: Penalty at end of game

@Crossref - No you state the the SRU has stated that "red" could catch the pen, kick it out and that the half hasn't ended. This isn't what they said. Of course if red catches the ball and it's not...
  18. [Tackle] Re: I wonder how the game would be if we, referees, actually implemented the Tackle L

There's alot of talk about "Surviving the Clear-out." Surely if I've got hands on the ball when the tackled player's support comes in to "clear me out" I'll take the ball with me if the tackled BC...

[Law] Re: the cross field kick pass and law 10.4 c

Yeah, I've got no issue with the support runner. He's onside when he becomes material - gets the ball. The pass however, I'm in agreement, this seems to be forward. Goes forward straight from the...
