[Law] Re: Penalty Kick at Goal Rules

Law 8 would suggest that the sanction is a scrum to the opposition, which fits in with other sanctions for a wrong kick.

Don't get the 60 seconds for a penalty kick mixed up with the 90 seconds...

[RWC] Re: USA/ARG - Offside from kick

But common sense tells us that "10m from the kick" is intended to say "10m from where the kick lands" (in line with the 10m law). Its poorly written but shouldn't be ignored.

[RWC] Re: USA/ARG - Offside from kick

You cant say "don't read a clarification". Whilst it is badly worded I think we can all use the clarification to see the law makers intent in how the law should be refereed.

[Law] Re: Penalty Kick at Goal Rules

I'm not sure if you changed the question half way through, but to answer your initial question.

If a team elects to kick for goal, then they must do so and it must be a credible attempt. ...

It would be good if the clarification form the lawmakers made any sense in law?

    Re: Rugby is officially dead

Not a well thought through or well argued article.

    What a contradiction!

Re: [RWC] Italy vs RSA Tackle RC

Only just seen the replay, can’t see how it was anything other than two reds.
A leg each, both lifted the leg above the horizontal and let him go :norc::norc:

You are just being obtuse for the sake of it now. It's the same thing.

They are not going to disagree because they are each only looking at and commenting on their own post.

Re: one flag up, one flag down

Decorily is talking about TJ's which is a totally different animal to an AR.

TJ's can be anyone and indicate touch and kicks at goal.
AR's are appointed by a Society and have the additional power...

Re: one flag up, one flag down

Have you done a Society AR course (as opposed to a Club TJ course), it was covered in mine.

    Two ARs.
The one on the post nearest the kick stands on the post and covers post and crossbar.

You have never been able to have a lineout within 5m of the goal line?

Re: one flag up, one flag down

This has nothing to do with needing a miss signal. One flag down means it missed according to that AR.

AR's should have talked to each other before any flags went up. One up one down means the...

[RWC] Re: How are the RWC refs doing so far ?

Referees analyse the whole game, and every decision.

Players only review their own play.

So minute for minute referees do more work than players do on analysing a game.

[Law] Re: Penalty at end of game

If the penalty kick after the clock is dead bounces in the field of play before going out, it's still a lineout.

That's according to our resident Premiership Referee. So I suspect your resident...
