    [Law] Re: Placer Question

if I've already awarded the kick, then by law can I change my decision?

I'm with Dickie; disallowing the kick would be the kind of pedantry that gives referees a bad name.

[Golden Oldies] Re: Nigel Owens on inclusive rugby.

It MIGHT be, and I'd defer making any definitive statements without actually reading the handed down judgement - reporters aren't always great at getting the nuance of decisions right.

    [Ruck] Re: Jackaling

Two opposing players arrive at the breakdown.
Both decide to try to get the ball and squat to get hands on.
They meet, shoulder to shoulder without binding on each other.

    Ruck formed.

    Re: Samoa v USA

I think there's a low risk of injury there, but close.

I like to think I'd play on but advise him on the quiet that if his boot makes contact with the player we have an altogether different...

    Re: New Zealand Referee Assaulted.

If you think about it as issuing cards in a way that de-escalates the situation (as posted above) you'll be OK.

Create a gap - not because of the assault thing, but because doing that will start...
  7. [Line out] Re: Fiji-Japan linouts inside the field of play

I agree with OB. As long as some part of the foot is on the touchline, the player is complying with the law.

From the pictures, it looks like this is what's happening, so there are no issues.

    *sigh*
USA R have been explicit that leggings should be allowed for all. Quite whether this is a strive for equality or a simply desire to remove any barriers for anyone at all playing is open for...

It's as straightforward a card as you'll see.

That's because they're been told to point, whistle and run. There's very little preventative in 7s.

[Golden Oldies] Re: Nigel Owens on inclusive rugby.

Sorry to be cynical, but that reasoning is the same that a number of judges use over here for nice young men who have done a bad thing but because of who they are and what they can do get a soft...

    Re: RIP James Small

In Ed Morrison's book, he references sending him off because of something that was said that was so bad apparently that his friends watching on TV knew that he was incandescent.

Nah. This is the slope that the NFL has gone down, finding any excuse to let the player play.

If IF gets canned because of what he thinks, it's beyond ridiculous to think that someone who actually landed hands on someone gets a pass.

In any instance where there is a gap in the law, and I believe that there is here, my natural inclination would be to err on the side of the non-offending team.
