    [Scrum] Re: Scrum PK

Isn't it illegal to drive the scrum up, therefore penalise SA under that law? Regardless of whether their scrum is dominant or not, if they demonstrate that dominance using illegal tactics they...

[Tackle] Re: Tackling when feet are off the ground

I don't like this jumping into or over a tackle, however there is no specific law against it. We would have to fall back on the dangerous play laws as a catch all. I'd be prepared to do that but I'd...

[In-goal] Re: Using your foot to prevent a try

Law reference? I know you can hell the ball backwards out of a ruck but I'm not aware you can heel if backwards out of someones hands.

On the subject of YC for language, proposal here for a YC...

    Re: Samoa v USA

I can't answer for Crossref but I'm not sure the question has any relevance, a player would not be lifting a foot like that 10m away from another to get the ball.

    Re: Samoa v USA

whilst I think this is dangerous, I also believe there are instances where we play top trumps with potential injuries. Rucking for instance with stronger sanction for contact with head or joints. I...

    Re: Samoa v USA

Dangerous play, YC. In my view it does not matter whether he played the ball cleanly out of the BCs hands or not, this is inherently dangerous and covered by law, I’m going to use that law.

    Re: New Zealand Referee Assaulted.

I know there are ways to de escalate a situation, but it’s a pretty poor show if we ever criticise a referee if they’ve been the subject of an assault. That is all the responsibility of the player...

[Law] Re: Kick-off not reaching 10m Line.

If it doesn't go 10 I'm going with scrum of re-kick options, regardless of whether it goes directly into touch or not. 12.8 is after 12.6 and I interpret this as if the kick goes beyond 10 and then...

[Golden Oldies] Re: Nigel Owens on inclusive rugby.

There are loads of trivial crimes when you include context. Doesn't mean everyone should be let off, also doesn't mean everyone should get a conviction which may harm their life out of proportion to...

    Hard of hearing referees?

I recently found an old post about Deaf Rugby, and was surprised to find you can qualify with only moderate hearing loss (25db average).

That was fascinating. I've read a report I think from the RFU on injury incidence but not seen the data or similar presented in this way. Really interesting that scrums have a higher risk of injury...

    [Scrum] Re: Uncontested scrums

I diasgree here, I have seen pitches that are safe to play overall, but due to sloppiness or issues with turf etc. Are unsafe for contested scrummaging. It’s a unique phase of the game with specific...

[Tackle] Re: Brumbies vs Reds YC

I see a dangerous shoulder charge, no attempt to wrap, I’m looking minimum yellow. Real time I didn’t see head contact so I would go YC for a dangerous shoulder charge.
  16. [Tackle] Re: Wales v All Blacks U20 - how is this not a red card?

Probably because the tackler got into a good tackling position, was not looking, and impacted high as the bull arrived effectively collapsed down from where he might reasonably expected to be. If...

Whilst I agree ruck laws are not always applied, surely there has to be a limit, and pulling players by the shirt away from the tackle area must be beyond that limit?
