  1. [Tackle] Re: No-tackle. Can offside lines be estabilshed by being over the ball ?

    Play on.

No tackle. Black didnt do enough secure the ball.

Looks like a very disconnected game decision.

[Tackle] Re: South African schoolboy rugby viral tackle video

    And I beg to differ

    "
The term ‘reckless’ isdescribed in the following terms:

‘The player knew (or should have known) that there was a risk of committing an act of FoulPlay.’"

    Was = past...

Re: help me say farewell to rugby refs

that you in all seriousness gave NKW a real option to pursue in response to his sarcastic humour of leaving cause he wasn't funny enough.
    I found that funny.

[Tackle] Re: South African schoolboy rugby viral tackle video

actually it does advance the discussion.

It can only be termed "reckless" if in fact foul play has been committed (ie a law 9 broken).

If I recall the madness of this thread correct, a great...

[Tackle] Re: South African schoolboy rugby viral tackle video

IMO - anyone who wants to use 9.11 to sanction this is doing so on the outcome - even though they will, and have, repeatedly denied it.
But I can understand that cause if they keep saying it out...

    [Law] Re: Toulouse red card.

I could have some empathy that it might get missed because it didn't hit the "clear and obvious" on first look. By the OP footage the ref didnt put arm out for advantage nor blow at least PK straight...

I really did not want to re-engage in this thread but sadly I failed.

[Tackle] Re: South African schoolboy rugby viral tackle video

    Yes and hard to say.

Everyone is more atuned to head knocks and what the blue card means. They get reported on game sheets but weren't really tracked so is/was possible that players/clubs allow...

[Tackle] Re: South African schoolboy rugby viral tackle video

Yes..I concede I misread your post. Apology for that.

My point is aimed at using 9.11 to turn legal actions into a sanction is a disengenuine use of the intent of the laws.

[Tackle] Re: South African schoolboy rugby viral tackle video

    Precisely my point Sherlock.

By your reasoning by the outcome I should have sanctioned the tackler that knocked himself out. It was dangerous because he was injured and it was reckless (to...

[Tackle] Re: South African schoolboy rugby viral tackle video

As it would happen I had a very nasty incident on the weekend a bit like this (murphy's law!) - and the incident took me shuddering back to this thread.

It was an intense adults game but a larger...

yes - you can try that. But lying often results in lose of credibility.

I see what youre saying but what about the opposition all-knowing-clever captain interogates as to why his hooker was denied?

It may not be the happy ending you were hoping for..

  18. [Line out] Re: How do you resume the game for ball not going 5m?

    Great question.

At first I thought "no". But on deeper thought I think "why not?". Not reaching 5m is in the same law as "not straight throw "(18.23) and I've played on/advantage to the defence...

You cannot equate mass x speed equalling momentum as a "lifting" action and then applying "lifting tackle" protocols. Imo that's unjust to the tackler.

[Tackle] Re: South African schoolboy rugby viral tackle video

I don't have the exact timings - but I'm guessing he'd need to have the reaction skills of a F1 driver to change his action once committed at that speed.

But that would be a hell of a lot easier...
