[Law] Ball played man laws or rules?

Following on from the offside or not question there seems to be an opinion that if you do not intentionally play the ball then it doesn't count.
Can anyone actually point me to a law on this?
    What...

    [Law] Re: Offside or not

Even if it was a chargedown becket, G7 is offside, if he plays the ball. If it comes to him at speed and he instinctively caught it, I'd probably give accidental offside, scrum.
    As described, it's...

Kirkby Lonsdale2 v Penrith2. Hopefully a lot more enjoyable than last week!
  5. Re: How's this season going re new law interprretations down in the weeds?

Disappointing start for me poor game, lots of dissent from players and many clearly were not aware of new high tackle interpretations resulting in a card count of 3 yellows and a red to 4 yellows.
    I...

    Re: SmartPower Profiler stud set

Thanks BFG for digging this up.
About to embark on the season here where half the players have been playing RL all summer.
I don't believe there are any clear guidelines that are easily understood...
  7. How's this season going re new law interprretations down in the weeds?

    I operate around Level 7 and 8.
Unfortunately my one pre season match was called of so first fixture will be Saturday.
Anyone noticed any difference at all?

    Re: Western Province protest

Wow, this must have been going on for sometime.
I'm a great believer in all refs reporting abuse to their society.

    [Tackle] Re: Arm protect

I would say the need to wear padding is mor mental than physical. I don't think I'd stop a player wearing that

[Law] Re: Have to wait for HIA

All my matches are HIA matches.
If I'm not happy with a player I tell them to get him off and assess simple as that.
Had a few "head injury sir head injury sir" shouts over the years.

    [Law] Re: Placer Question

Understood but the level does matter to me and I do not want to be a jobsworth. There are many games I have officiated where I've allowed the tee man/boy/girl to hold the ball from the first...

[Tackle] Re: Tackling when feet are off the ground

I disallowed this "try" last season. See attached photo.
Very few complaints on the day, fullback lines up the winger to tackle him and the winger jumped and hurdled him.
    I penalised the winger...

    Re: Vanishing Foam

You see players at the top level all the time stealing yards when kicking penalties for touch. Refs simply ignore it, why I don't know.
At my level, if I notice it I'll have a word if it's not too...

I assume the hooker putting his/her head on the oppos shoulder is the more at risk?

    [Ruck] Re: I am confused

So if you attempt to roll away but you are tied in by approaching opposition you will be penalised.
I guess that is just a clarification to justify Showbiz rugby at the top level?

    Re: "Bring back propper Rucking!"

Proper rucking became unacceptable when the rugby powers caved in to big business and allowed all sorts of dangerous studs and cleats on the pitch!

  23. [Tackle] Re: WR: Decision-making framework for high tackles

Well that seems to be a well thought out presentation. I guess dominant tacklers will not like it! Still not sure where your arm should be for a proper tackle, in front or behind your shoulder?

    Re: Dangerous rucks

100% accurate. Showbiz rugby and referees not enforcing the laws are the problem. Doesn't happen at my Level, I penalise it. Attacking team side entry is easy to spot but ignored at top level.
