  1. [Tackle] Re: Wales v All Blacks U20 - how is this not a red card?

There is that, however we have just had the flowcharts to help deal with these. If we say its a high tackle its a red card for two reasons - the original hit snd the follow up arm.

    If the...

    Re: Lineout quiz

Sure - I referenced 18.27 as it demonstrates the 2019 laws differentiating the roles of player in the lineout and receiver.

    Re: Lineout quiz

Except that the receiver does not appear to be regarded as "in the lineout" in the 2019 rulebook - look at 18.27.a and 18.27.d and there is a distinction made.

Also, the definition of a receiver...

    Re: Lineout quiz

To add to potential intrigue does joining a maul (I'm thinking thrower and receiver here) before the maul has passed the mark of touch count as competing for the ball in the lineout?

    Re: Lineout quiz

I think I might raise the receiver joining the line point at the next society meeting - the implication of the 2019 law, by stating that line out players can compete for the ball, is that non-line...

    Re: Lineout quiz

Actually, having thought about the comemnts here I believe there are two reasons why the try should not be awarded:

If we regard 8 as a receiver he/she is initially standing in the wrong place -...

    Re: Lineout quiz

That's the crux of it - standing at 2m is now set in stone. Passing through 2m on your run in doesn't count for me.

    Re: Lineout quiz

I say free kick as the 8 is not part of the lineout and, therefore, is not a player allowed to compete for the ball (29a).

But it's a good question and you could argue it either way.

[Line out] Re: Crusaders doing what they do best

I think I'm with you Blindside. The throwing in team should have an advantage given they are not the ones who put the ball out of play, however it has to be a proportionate one and I think the...

[Maul] Re: Question on driving maul at a lineout ??

Penalty for what? Play on as far as I can see. The relevant law is 18:37:

    The lineout ends when:

The ball or a player in possession of the ball:
    leaves the lineout; or

The referee may stop play and allow time for:

Player injury for up to one minute....
