Good on you......and good on the Union that allows you to.

In IRFUland it's compulsory retirement at age 60 for 'Branch' referees.

[Tackle] Re: Hand off contacts with throat

    Depends on local regulations also....

Not sure how to interpret the description of the 'straight arm'.
    This could be an issue!

[Ruck] Re: Jackal vs hands in the ruck?

I certainly wouldn't be calling a ruck over merely because it ( ball) has been 'lifted'. Lifted and clear and even actively being played might be a better standard for me.

    Edit..(ball)

    [Law] Re: First Match

Good advice to "take a breath"....better still take two!
First one to try manage the offence to a point where it becomes unnecessary to blow and second one to give it time to get to a point where it...

[Assistant Referees] Re: Spitting on ball.

There is a certain Ireland hooker who is in the habit of actually licking his own hands as he approaches a lineout. He must have built up some immune system by now!!!

[Scrum] Re: Scrum half put in

As stated...they can choose at each scrum but the defending 9 must go to the side chosen or drop back to the rest of the backs.

Well yes....but being in possession in itself isn't enough to guarantee the put in at the restart.

    [7's/10's] Re: "tackler release"

I seriously doubt it....and sincerely hope not!

I doubt if he is even a player...but if he is a player who is frustrated by good preventative calls from referees then maybe we are doing something...

    [7's/10's] Re: "tackler release"

The call by the referee was good management and was correct based on convention!
However, as I have pointed out elsewhere, technically a player voluntarily going to ground is not a tackle.
  19. [Law] Re: Wrong? definition of Tackled Player - time to redefine Tackler?

Mich, you seem to be of the opinion that tacklers can still play the ball from the direction of their own goal line after regaining their feet. This is incorrect.

Re: Bridgend v Llanelli - Penalty Tries

I personally have seen numerous incidences of referees calling advantage over in such circumstances....ie attacking team crossing goal line but failing to score for whatever reason.

Re: Bridgend v Llanelli - Penalty Tries

The law book clearly defines that a penalty try may be awarded if a try was likely to be scored in a more advantageous position!
