[Golden Oldies] Re: Nigel Owens on inclusive rugby.

I've heard an interesting rumour from a couple of different sources that IF's case is being supported by a very wealthy person with an interest in rugby, and an even bigger interest in RA going broke

[Golden Oldies] Re: Nigel Owens on inclusive rugby.

What a load of crap. The crusaders were no better or worse than any other ancient or medieval warriors.

[Golden Oldies] Re: Nigel Owens on inclusive rugby.

Originally it was the enemies of the crusaders, and they did plenty of killing, raping and pillaging. The people of the balkans may have a view.

All those teams called Saxons, Trojans, Spartans,...

    Re: Premiership final

The other thing is that as juniors the strong players are used to playing representative football for their Shute Shield club, so when it comes to seniors its a natural progression for players of...

[Golden Oldies] Re: Nigel Owens on inclusive rugby.

Every one is a bigot in some way.

If the game has a place for drug cheats, wife beaters, drunk drivers etc then why not evangelical Christians?

    [Law] Re: Team moving forward?

I read OP as ball has come out of scrum and blue scrum half or fly half have been tackled going backwards so Green have ascendancy at the breakdown and are "going forward"

    Re: Premiership final

    That's a pretty good analogy.

Its quite common here for say the first grade coach to come to the second grade coach and say "I'm taking Jones this week" or "I want you to start playing Smith at...

    Re: Premiership final

As I said before it wouldnt work here as 2nds players provide the bench for 1sts, and players move fluidly between the teams based on form/injury/availability. They arent seperate entities, they are...

    Re: Premiership final

It doesnt happen often. Players that are top quality are encouraged to go up to a Shute Shield club rather than mess about in lower division suburban. One of our club juniors is crrently playing for...

    Re: Premiership final

I get what you are saying, its just not how we do things. We join clubs not teams. The guys in the 4ths want to stick around and sit on the bench for 3rds then have a few beers and watch the 2nds and...

    Re: Premiership final

We can and do rearrange postponed games at higher senior level, and if clubs can be bothered in lower senior level (if a first round game is washed out team will often just play for double points in...

[QUOTE=Arabcheif;359590] So, I get that a team might be denied promotion to on those grounds, but I suggest that there isn't really that much difference in TigerCraig's 6th division than the ones in...

    Re: Premiership final

Sigh, as I said back in post 45 pro/rel exists in some amateur leagues, not entirely based on on-field results, but not in pro leagues. Unlike in other countries there is no way Lower Nowhere United...

    Re: Premiership final

Yes, that's true, but only within the VAFA. They cant go up to VFL or AFL. I understand there are still eligibility rules too, so clubs can be refused promotion.

    Sydney Subbies rugby technically...

    Re: Premiership final

I dont get your point? What are the problems? The winner of our league is the winner of the last playoff game.

Promotion/relegation where it exists is not based on that. Its based on how many...

    Re: Premiership final

No professional sport in australia has pro/rel. It exists at a very limited level in some amateur sport but is based on things other than results.

My club could win our comp in sydney suburan...

    Re: Premiership final

Ok, but when do the replays happen? Midweek? Play sat and sun?

Rugby has access to the grounds for 24 weeks max. There are in most junior comps 14 games. No games on Easter, Queens birthday long...

As I said, seniors have a couple of spare weeks (eg this weekend being a long weekend is spare for Sydney suburban), but it cant happen in juniors as school hols hace to be factored in as well

    Re: Premiership final

Its not the ARU, they have nothing to do with grassroots sport. Its the fact that mist grassroots sport is played on council owned parks and shared between multiple sports.

    When would you play them?

    Re: Premiership final

A few years back my son missed out on a junior cricket premiership because they did first past the post due to not having enough spare weeks to fit in finals before footy took over the grounds.
