    [In-goal] Re: Maul in goal

I don't think so. Held up in goal would be a different signal to an unsuccessful end to a maul in the FOP.
  2. [Law] Re: What is the official role of a touch judge during a match?

It's a glitch in the appointments software. We use the same software in Staffs and our AR's are marked up as TJ's on the system. Oh, and as referee coordinator for this event, I can confirm that I...

[Junior] Re: Line out lifter drops jumper.

For kids matches where lifting is allowed, I always mention in my briefing that if you take on the responsibility of lifting a jumper, you also take on the responsibility of bringing the jumper...

Re: 346-0 I hope this is a joke

So that would be 10 v 11 rather than 15 a side, given the league rules? If she who must be obeyed lets me out for a pint before the New Year, I can give you a more complete picture.

Re: 346-0 I hope this is a joke

Depends on how you define nearby. Within half an hour, there would be:

    Holmes Chapel
    Knutsford
    Congleton
    Sandbach
    Crewe & Nantwich
Acton Nomads (the NWM head honcho was previously associated...

Didds, check the link on ctrainor's original posting and read through the thread on the NOWIRUL forum.

I also got an email this morning.

Re: 346-0 I hope this is a joke

As of today, NWM have left or been withdrawn from the league and their league records removed.

Re: 346-0 I hope this is a joke

NWM's opposition in the match we're discussing are in Staffs and take Staffs refs but the records suggest a society referee was not appointed to this fixture.

    Re: Front row brief

Studs are different in the sense that Law 4.5(a) compels the ref to carry out a stud check.

Re: Saints vs wasps red card

I've looked at this a few times now, in real time and slow motion, and it looks to me as if the player tries to plant his feet in an effort to slow down as he realises what's about to happen. No...

I made the mistake of wandering over there and having a look, having seen this post. I think I have lost the will to live.

    Re: New RFU League Structure

Not only that but when sponsors realise that they will only be getting 11 home matches instead of 13, there's bound to be some renegotiation of terms. 2 less VP lunches, less gate money, less match...

    Re: Ladies' law variations

I had a chat with the ref and we both had a chat with the coaches and went with the Regulation 16 Appendix 1 version that Dixie has set out earlier, as that was the latest we could find.

    Re: Ladies' law variations

This is a grass roots match, a friendly and as low a level as it gets so need to worry about differences between the elite and the lower leagues, just as long as we know what's the correct regs for...

This reference here does indicate 35 minute halves but says nothing about 1.5m push or 45 deg wheel whereas they are mentioned in this older document.

    Ladies' law variations

One of my club colleagues is doing a ladies' match tomorrow. I said I'd ask on here about law variations. I've tried to find the latest version but I'm struggling. Is it still essentially the U19...

I'm struggling to see how this has become a contentious issue. In the context of the tackling technique which has become known as the choke tackle, it's completely clear that this refers to the ball...

That's an interesting question. In the last four weeks, I've had two 100+ scores (not like the match being discussed here where one team essentially refused to participate but simply because one...

Re: 22 drop even though didn't end up in goal?

Compromises always have to be made at the lower levels. Teams pitch up with less than 15 players, often much less. No STE front row. Dog poo on the pitch. Junkie's needles in the less salubrious...

That looks like a nice appointment. Are you getting ARs for it? (If I'm looking at the correct match, I'd be surprised if this wasn't a TO3).

Re: Scrum - bind, unbind(?), rebind(?)

It's called slingshotting and used to gain just the type of advantage you describe. I'd warn the first time and if he doesn't stop, ping him for not binding correctly.
