[Junior] Re: Welsh Rugby Pathway under 11s.

So, if a player is tackled and gets his knee down just before the line, the tackle assist standing in in-goal has to release him and let him score as it's a tackle made in the FoP?

    [Law] Re: Unsporting Conduct Question.

The only relevant law concerns the opposing team, not the spectators. I think the referee was wrong, but technically within his rights as sole judge of fact and law etc :)

    [Law] Re: Offside or not

That's why I try to call things clearly before I blow the whistle ;) I generally say "leave it green" or "get onside" as loudly and promptly as I can, because it's something easy for the players to...

    [Law] Re: Offside or not

Letter of the law seems clearly "play on", but I agree with chbg - if you haven't called it one way or the other, and have blown the whistle already, an equitable restart would be a scrum.

    The...
  7. Re: How's this season going re new law interprretations down in the weeds?

In RFU-land it may be compulsory, but not here... I was admittedly forgetting mini rugby :) I can think of several U12 practices here that would mark a ref out as inexperienced in an adult match!
  8. [Law] Re: Tap penalty to player already running: allowed?

It's only at 5m penalties. The defence can't move forward until the ball is tapped, but have to tackle the charger and stop him dead before he covers about 3.5 metres, from a standing start. A...
  9. Re: How's this season going re new law interprretations down in the weeds?

    - Whistle without signal, then talking to players to explain what you're whistling for, then maybe a halfhearted arm-flap that could be indicating a scrum or a penalty
    - Whistle at a restart kick
    -...
  10. [Law] Re: Tap penalty to player already running: allowed?

Sounds like there's not even any need for a cavalry charge law, then.
  11. [Law] Re: Tap penalty to player already running: allowed?

But... but nothing's changed in that law since 2017... ;)
  12. [Law] Re: Tap penalty to player already running: allowed?

I disagree that it's the same in practice as a pop from a ruck. I also don't think the law has changed because it's become safer. So either it was always safe, and mistakenly included before, or the...
  13. Re: How's this season going re new law interprretations down in the weeds?

The laws say "no player's head is touching the neck or shoulder of the opponent", so it's not been outlawed due to axial loading. At the lowest leagues, it's probably a helpful balance for the...

    [Law] Re: "Knock-on"

Law 6.5.a - the referee is the sole judge of fact and of law during a match. So if you have a ref who makes (in your eyes) the wrong call, you don't gain anything by pointing it out or waving your...

[INTERNATIONAL] Re: England Ireland was it a ruck

Same if Nigel had given England the scrum following the maul after a kick. But it's nice to see correct decisions :)

[INTERNATIONAL] Re: England Ireland was it a ruck

Everyone was onside at the previous ruck, the ball was thrown into an onside player in open play.

It's every player's right to be wrong as long as he doesn't infringe the laws in doing so. :)

    [Law] Re: NO advantage call

If they were in a position to offend, or offending but not materially, it's good management to verbally defuse that.

White has the advantage, wins a messy ruck, an off-feet green player tries to...

    [Law] Re: NO advantage call

The point being, the offending team can and should still compete for the ball to prevent advantage being gained - as that is disadvantageous to them.

If they ignore him and recover the ball, he's...

    [Maul] Re: uncontested maul

    Accidental offside, scrum red.

Red wouldn't have committed an offence if blue hadn't already passed the ball back.

    [Tackle] Re: Arm protect

    Re: latching

I misread... red push blue back, and the ball is dragged back by the blue anchor who is being pulled along the ground. PK. Anchoring in itself is often hard to judge C&O, and I try to manage.
