    Re: Front row brief

Studs are different in the sense that Law 4.5(a) compels the ref to carry out a stud check.

Re: Saints vs wasps red card

I've looked at this a few times now, in real time and slow motion, and it looks to me as if the player tries to plant his feet in an effort to slow down as he realises what's about to happen. No...

    Re: Making it up

I made the mistake of wandering over there and having a look, having seen this post. I think I have lost the will to live.

    Re: New RFU League Structure

Not only that but when sponsors realise that they will only be getting 11 home matches instead of 13, there's bound to be some renegotiation of terms. 2 less VP lunches, less gate money, less match...

    Re: Ladies' law variations

I had a chat with the ref and we both had a chat with the coaches and went with the Regulation 16 Appendix 1 version that Dixie has set out earlier, as that was the latest we could find.

    Re: Ladies' law variations

This is a grass roots match, a friendly and as low a level as it gets so need to worry about differences between the elite and the lower leagues, just as long as we know what's the correct regs for...

    Re: Ladies' law variations

This reference here does indicate 35 minute halves but says nothing about 1.5m push or 45 deg wheel whereas they are mentioned in this older document.

    Ladies' law variations

One of my club colleagues is doing a ladies' match tomorrow. I said I'd ask on here about law variations. I've tried to find the latest version but I'm struggling. Is it still essentially the U19...

    Re: Choke tackle

I'm struggling to see how this has become a contentious issue. In the context of the tackling technique which has become known as the choke tackle, it's completely clear that this refers to the ball...

Re: The most fun trip home ever!

That's an interesting question. In the last four weeks, I've had two 100+ scores (not like the match being discussed here where one team essentially refused to participate but simply because one...

Re: 22 drop even though didn't end up in goal?

Compromises always have to be made at the lower levels. Teams pitch up with less than 15 players, often much less. No STE front row. Dog poo on the pitch. Junkie's needles in the less salubrious...

Re: Some score that is !!

My match yesterday was 102-0. Maintaining standards right to the end was seen as a plus point by my assessor.

That looks like a nice appointment. Are you getting ARs for it? (If I'm looking at the correct match, I'd be surprised if this wasn't a TO3).

They might also fill in the rabbit holes in the pitch.

Re: Scrum - bind, unbind(?), rebind(?)

It's called slingshotting and used to gain just the type of advantage you describe. I'd warn the first time and if he doesn't stop, ping him for not binding correctly.

Re: Dissent or just a comment?

If what you're describing here is the player putting his face right in your face, I'd be thinking red at that point.

    Re: Tigers new away kit

It's a nod in the direction of the old days when Leicester numbered their shirts A, B, C etc instead of using numbers. It's also why their front row was known as the ABC club.

Re: Where are you this weekend? 2014/15

The home team manager is an old buddy, and very loud from the sidelines. Gazing into my crystal ball tells me that, at some stage, you'll be requesting that he keep it down :)

Dominical Republic for me. Apparently I have a lower BMI than 77% of males aged 45-59 in the UK.

    Re: Match Abandoned

DrSTU's got Paisley on the 29th. I'd imagine they will be on their best behaviour for a while. Then again, it's Paisley so maybe not.

Re: Where are you this weekend? 2014/15

Cambuslang are L6, so maybe about an English L8 (ish).

Cartha QP 1s are L3 so their 2s would be about L6 so again about an English L8 (ish).

The second match might well be a higher standard...

    Re: Going Up A Level

Funnily enough Taffy, you might find it easier in some ways. I don't know what level it is, you don't say, but a decent L9/10 where players at least try to stay on their feet at the breakdown can be...
