    Re: Next season's trials..

I think it depends on the type of tackle most likely to cause concussions. I suspect that the most problems arise in open play where players are 1 on 1 at high speeds, so this may make it worse (or...

    Re: retaken conversion

I tell him the time once.

Are you going to lie about the time, fabricate an offence, or make up a reason to stop the clock? I don't think any of them reflect well on a referee, and all leave you...

I disagree. The 30 seconds are the player's privilege, not your grace.

[Golden Oldies] Re: Nigel Owens on inclusive rugby.

Your opinion is less relevant than the legal fact that there is an inequality in legal status.

Removing any legal and fiscal consequences from marriage (making it a blessing ceremony and private...

    Re: retaken conversion

I played half a match with a broken wrist at school. The coach said if I could move my fingers it wasn't broken; apparently greenstick fractures don't work that way. Back in the 80s, men were men,...

    [Law] Re: Advantage Quiz again

In both cases he's accepted the ball, so it's play on in terms of not-10, and he's taken the ball into touch so it's lineout Red.

[Maul] Re: Is this a forward pass?

That's not the question - BC1 doesn't go into touch here. BC2 is wrestling for the ball, his feet go C&O into touch, BC1 still in the field of play. Your call?

    You always suffer a...

[Maul] Re: Is this a forward pass?

Slow and exaggerated: Blue 10 has the ball, holding it back towards his own goal line, arms outstretched.

Blue 12 walks up, arms outstretched, and grasps the ball, standing two metres behind 10.

[Maul] Re: Is this a forward pass?

The player passes (the act of handing the ball) backwards. I'd say maul over, play on, and I don't think anyone keeps track of this in a larger rotating maul.
  12. Re: Assisting the ball carrier when he is tackled

This is the League forum, and RL doesn't allow mauls.

[Golden Oldies] Re: Nigel Owens on inclusive rugby.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 seems to cover it, given that "inheriting the kingdom of God" and "going to hell" are seen as the binary options available in most protestant theology.

    [Law] Re: Offside support players

So why is 10.4.b an offence? If that's the be all and end all, what's wrong with offside players advancing?

    Note the "includes"...

Interesting, anyway. I'll talk to my coach about it :)

10.4 An offside player may be penalised, if that player:

Re: Inclusiveness in rugby / Paddy Jackson

I think if he comes out and condemns his behaviour, maybe gets involved in an awareness compaign, most people would see that as contrition. I'm not aware of him doing that, but I've not followed...

    [Law] Re: Offside support players

He starts in the middle of the pitch at his own 10m line, 10m ahead of the ball. He's put onside at the 15m line near the oppo's 22, 2m away from his player. How can he possibly have moved away from...

Green 5, 10m offside, jogs up such that he's put onside in time to receive a pass and score. Penalise?

    Re: Premiership final

Ah right, how interesting. Here I think club loyalty is more of the culture - although if you have a standout player two divisions above the rest of the team they will often move to a club that can...
