    Re: retaken conversion

For me the player had to take the kick within 30s. So if there is 30s or more still on the clock there will be a restart, but other than that he can choose to get a hurry on if he wants a restart or...

[Golden Oldies] Re: Nigel Owens on inclusive rugby.

Dickie, the paper here covered this saying he was looking for 1.6m to fight the case. However it added that so far he had received only about 180 from seven donations.

    Given he has stated he...
  3. [Junior] Re: World Rugby U20 Championship 2019 in Argentina

As i see it Redpath is suspended for 3 months - until after 21 Sept, and in all of these decisions they do seem to have been quite careful to phrase the suspensions to have an effect on games. As...

[Tackle] Re: Brumbies vs Reds YC

Ok to disagree, as this is a part of judgement. But for me the arm never contacted the BC and so it is hard to see how that makes it a tackle!

[Maul] Re: Is this a forward pass?

I agree with this. For me the important decision is whether BC 2 joined the maul legally. if so, then play on.
  6. [Tackle] Re: Wales v All Blacks U20 - how is this not a red card?

I agree with Ian, the launching technique is IMO not a good idea as it must ramp up the danger of the tackle, and that doing so put a player at an increased risk of a higher sanction.

[Tackle] Re: Brumbies vs Reds YC

i don't think he did enough with his right arm to make this a tackle, so I would go for a shoulder charge, not head contact (but only as the bc fell so quickly!) with high danger, so YC is correct...
  8. [Tackle] Re: Wales v All Blacks U20 - how is this not a red card?

Whilst I would probably agree with this, I suspect the issue was the decision about whether there was mitigating circumstances. As far as black was concerned, he was aiming a t chest level until the...

[Tackle] Re: Brumbies vs Reds YC

For me it was one of two things. it was either a shoulder charge without grasping - that he waved his right arm about behind the player is not enough for me, in which case it was a penalty and for...

[Line out] Re: Another Line Out Question..

But Phil, you have just peeped when you didn't need to! Play on for me - there is nothing to limit numbers in a maul. But they might be in a bit of difficulty if the maul does not get moved off the...

    Re: Ref watch..

And you need to know time off and score at the time (at least you do in Scotland) so I get the name too and put it all on a page in my notebook that I record the score in.

    i have a Lorus watch...

    Re: Shirt Pulling

I think I would have PK against MI for that - pulling a shirt over the head of an opponent is not really what the game should be about! Also don't like seeing players pulled forward off their feet,...

[Line out] Re: Crusaders doing what they do best

The question really is, relative to himself, did the passer throw the ball forward, ie looking at his hands, was the movement relative to himself towards the oppo DBL or towards his own DBL. In this...

  17. [Law] Re: Wrong? definition of Tackled Player - time to redefine Tackler?

No, I am saying he is not allowed to not let him up, but if he has done all that you say, then he has rights to the ball. But he has to let the tackled player up to then be able to return the...

    [Scrum] Re: Flankers

Arabcheif, back in the day forwards were allowed to break from the scrum before it was over, but if they did they had to retire to be behind the back foot, so that may have been the source of this...
  20. [Law] Re: Wrong? definition of Tackled Player - time to redefine Tackler?

I would be looking to ensure that when he stood up he was not standing over the ball carrier in effect preventing him from getting up, that there was a clear an obvious separation from the player...

The clarification in 2015 made it clear that time was taken from the strike on the ball. Now I know they have changed the law regarding a penalty kick to touch, but I still think that the guidance...

    [Law] Re: Time and PK

CR, it is not really a "restart" when a PK goes into touch, rather it is permitting the side offended against to take the line-out that they would have been entitled to for the offence. The problem...
