  1. [Tackle] Re: I wonder how the game would be if we, referees, actually implemented the Tackle L

I think we, referees, do implement the tackle law. It's players that offend which cause disruption and problems in the game.
  2. Re: Enforcement of current law - refereeing at the breakdown March 2020

but there’s a difference between hands on the ball and hands on and able to win. If you have hands around the ball and are in a position to lift, assuming no holding on as you are cleared out the...

    Re: C-19 lockdown exercide

I’ve got an arthritic knee which means running is out. Cycling is a bit hit and miss in the lockdown - is it wise to cycle 30 miles past hundreds of people?

so I’m down to YouTube workouts, which...
  4. Re: Enforcement of current law - refereeing at the breakdown March 2020

The law I’d like to see enforced is players was endeavour to stay on their feet. No collapsing rucks, crocodile roles etc. Focus on that and rucks will be cleaner and a true contest for the ball.

Official start from tomorrow, but one of the clubs I was due to referee today refused to travel due to virus fears so effective from today really.

    [Law] Re: Accidental offside ?

I don't see how the interpretation should change at higher levels (until we get to TV rugby). Either it's offside at U15 and therefore adult levels, or its not.

FWIW I'm going with the expected...

    Re: who’d be a referee

No problem with using players names, I can’t see why it’s a issue. The problem is not how Referee’s address players but how players and coaches address referees.

[Line out] Re: 2 man line out

Allowed, but you’ve raised the key point, can they move the 2m and get lifted to receive the ball whilst not moving until the ball is thrown. It’s possible but more likely they joined the line out...

    [Ruck] Re: scrum half protection

I’d be thinking how did the player come through the middle of the ruck whilst remaining bound and onside. I can’t see how it’s possible so I’d penalise.

    [Law] Re: Marler grope

This is not a misplaced joke - or if it is it is one that require admonishment and a severe sanction. It is not a joke to upstart someone, it is not a joke to touch a players breasts, it is not a...

    [Law] Re: Marler grope

On my local pitch it’s a RC no questions. Totally unacceptable conduct.
  17. [In-goal] Re: Restart into in goal - defender kicks it dead via touch in goal - decision?

That’s not touch in goal (TIG)

TIG is where the ball goes into touch between the try line and the dead ball line.

Definitely agree with this. Whilst we have to have a little bit of a thick skin to referee, we shouldn't have to put up with abuse or pettiness. Let's see how well they get on with their complaints...

Re: [6N] Sco v Fra: Player on ground

[Law] Re: Penalty Try or not? Opinions please

    Re: [6N] Sco v Fra: "Don't Join"

You're not seeing things. Happened more than once in the game. Referee appeared to have no problem with this, personally I would have given a penalty.
