    [Law] Re: Offside oddities #2

    I don't think so -

10.4c This is known as the 10-metre law and still applies if the ball touches or is played by an opponent but not when the kick is charged down.

    [Law] Re: Offside oddities #2

Intuitively I would be tempted to agree with you but according to (my reading of) the law book you can only be offside in open play "anywhere in the playing area" which includes the pitch and dead...

    [Law] Re: Offside oddities #2

What if (bending your situation slightly) the Blue prop had been beyond the dbl when the ball landed in the in-goal, and he promptly dives on it and claims a try?

    [Law] Offside oddities #3

(Arising from Dickie E's tongue in cheek suggestion on thread #1 that the 10m law would apply... but on a new thread so as not to hijack the original.)

Does the 10m law apply if a kick goes...

[Law] Re: Thrown Backwards, Bounces Forwards

    Definitely very lateral :D
But for my money, not clearly and obviously forward, so I can see why the ref (and AR who was on the spot) called play on.

[Law] Re: Thrown Backwards, Bounces Forwards

More recently, it's also in the WR Laws (full pdf) from 2017:

EXCEPTION: Bounce forward. If the ball is not thrown forward but it hits a player or theground and bounces forward, this is not a...

[Law] Re: Thrown Backwards, Bounces Forwards

Thank you, I've learned something new. I always thought a knock-on could be from any part of the upper body, rather than just the hand/arm. Did this change at some point?

    [Tackle] Re: Tackle Release

But surely the tackler doesn't have to go to ground - so there is a completed tackle as the ball carrier has a knee on the ground?

From what I can find in the laws (dangerous, I know!) for a...

    [RWC] Eng v SA

21:36 Kolbe penalised for an Eng foot kicking the ball out of their own ruck... He had clearly released and got back to his feet to challenge, then left the ball when he was cleared out. What the?

  16. [Ruck] Re: Scrum halves playing the ball back with their foot from the side of the ruck

Yet somehow, with the exact same lawbook, the U20 Six Nations manages to produce entertaining, fast-flowing, free running rugby, with good contests in the scrums and at the breakdowns, and with none...

Am I right in thinking that JG hasn't reffed a RWC final?
