[Line out] Re: Another Line Out Question..

Just nip it in the bud.
Otherwise the other team will try the same thing, then you will have players darting in and out of the lineout.
Just stop it early doors and then give yourself some peace...

[Line out] Re: Another Line Out Question..

    Manage it.

Peep, guys are you having a receiver or not? Make your mind up and set early.

    Right lets go again.
  3. [Tackle] Re: Wales v All Blacks U20 - how is this not a red card?

The chart says no mitigation can be considered if Aggravating factors exist. Aggravating factors = "if the tackler and BC are in open space and the tackler has clear line of sight and time before...
  4. [Tackle] Re: Wales v All Blacks U20 - how is this not a red card?

    Following the new flowchart.

It fits the description of a high tackle, not a shoulder charge.
There is direct arm contact with the head (4)
It is Direct with a high degree of danger...

[Tackle] Re: Brumbies vs Reds YC

    As i see it...
Using the new grid (are they using it too?)
It's not a shoulder charge becasue the tacklers arms are not behind him and not tucked away in a sling position.
    So i'ts a high tackle...

    Re: Ref watch..

Touch screen on the Apple watch doesn't like the rain either, if there's water on the screen or your fingers it can give erroneous actions.

    [Law] Re: Offside support players

I don't think you have, but I think 10.4b is just one of those laws that no one uses.

Question to ask yourself: Is this a case of things that look wrong, but actually aren't?

    Re: Ref watch..

I have tried various watches to time yellow cards and none of them have worked successfully. Especially when you get more than one overlapping. Now I just write down the Time back on, on my scorecard...

    [Law] Re: Offside support players

Green 5 is ONside at the ruck (he is behind the scrum halfs pass).
He then jogs forward in open play and is onside when he receives the ball.
If you penalise that you are going to have a lot of...

[7's/10's] Re: What’s everyone doing over the break?

Just wanted to come back to this.

Biggest 10s tournament in the world, the organisation was amazing. I think there were about 190 or so teams playing over two days. About 28 referees from World...

    [7's/10's] Re: Sevens positioning

I stand in the defensive line, rugby league and touch rugby style.

    Re: Why no red card?

I didn't say that, I said it was good in theory....you can take a horse to water, etc.

I am sure we all have referees we know of that will do their own thing regardless of any guidelines.

    Good...

    Re: Why no red card?

Good in theory, but if you follow the USA Rugby Facebook page you will know that the idea of consistency seems alien to some referees.

  20. [Tackle] Re: WR: Decision-making framework for high tackles

You're going to have to learn as a referee to make your own decisions and not rely on others

  23. [Tackle] Re: WR: Decision-making framework for high tackles

Did you watch the guidance video?
There's a Farrell tackle in there as one of the examples.....and its illegal.
  24. [Tackle] Re: WR: Decision-making framework for high tackles

If its behind (or in a sling position) then its a shoulder charge, not a tackle. The video explains it all better than the flow chart.
  25. [Tackle] Re: WR: Decision-making framework for high tackles

Watching the video, if it is followed religiously, I can see a LOT more cards.

    Penalty only for:
seatbelt tackle (no contact with the head or neck),
and low tackle that rides up (no contact...
