    Re: Others sporting interests

Before Rugby, I played Soccer (as a child), Wrestling (folk style), Football (Gridiron), and Track and Field (800 m and Pole Vault). Picked up Rugby in college. Currently I referee, Rugby, Field...

While playing in College, my team beat Hobart College 90-0. Everyone, including our 2 subs scores tries. Well everyone except me.

    [Tackle] Re: YC/RD

If there is no FP there can be no PT, let alone a nailed on one.

There needs to be a FP that prevented a probable try to be a PT, not any old garden variety PK.

    PK only

    [Tackle] Re: YC/RD

I think you would PK the team that couldn't cope with the pressure and unbinds. I don't think this is FP (unless done intentionally) and a PT which requires FP. Once it becomes repeated, then it is...

    [Tackle] Re: YC/RD

At a scrum, if no one intentionally offended, and did not violate the provisions in 9.19.a-d, is there foul play? No foul play, then no PT?

    Re: women's rugby

I think part of the beauty of our game is that men and women play by the same laws. No need to change the laws for different styles of play.

    [Law] Re: Quick tap penalty

The would be tackler doesn't have to retreat the full 10m before making the tackle. They could make the tackle as soon as a teammate that was back ten advances past them.

    [Law] Re: Theoretical Stalemate

The 4 RED Forwards are offside under the 10-meter law, and are required to retreat until put onside by a teammate. They don't, so you blow your whistle, and award a PK to BLUE.

[Law] Re: Knock on into the dead ball area.

12.11 law does not say "must be restarted with a 22DO"

    7.3.F

Advantage MUST not be applied and the referee MUST blow the whistle immediately when:

    The ball is made dead.

[Law] Re: Knock on into the dead ball area.

As has been mentioned in previous threads on this topic, the advantage (territorial) would be gained before the ball goes into touch.

    [Ruck] Re: "use it"

Not sure if/where this is supported in the LotG, though it is in the USAR GMG:

    5. Once the ball has been clearly won, the player in the scrumhalf position may only use their feet to move the ball...

Re: Can I Clarify The Offside Line.

No, I don't think that is true. As long as both feet remain behind the ball, and they don't move laterally into the pocket, they are not offside.
  14. Re: Scrum Law 19.28 - scrum half position - your advice please

My main question is how does a captain/ player question a referees interpretation of a law without getting into trouble?

Don't question the referees interpretation during the match. Adapt to, or...

[Law] Re: Penalise teams late onto the field

I don't think anyone is exposing themselves, usually as covered as if at a bike race or swim meet.

For adult matches there is usually beers and food set up at a local pub or a park pavilion.

[Law] Re: Penalise teams late onto the field

We don't have this issue in the USA, no changing rooms makes things simple, also less time constraints here as there will usually only be 2 matches on any pitch max.

[Line out] Re: Offside by QTI

Where is the law reference for there being offside at a QTI? The burden of proof is on you to find a reference for a law you want to enforce (that doesn't exist).

[Line out] Re: Offside by QTI

There is no offside at a QTI. Law reference: 18.3-7 (by omission)

Once a lineout forms various offside lines are formed. Law reference: 18.30-36

If you are offside from a kick that goes to...
