[Tackle] Re: Not really a tackle but a slide..

As the commentator said, ‘he knew what he was doing’. Reckless with no thought of player coming forward. YC okay for me.

    Re: women's rugby

There is quite a lot of discussion on this point at the moment. The information I am trying to gather, so that I can make up my own mind, is in what way would the game be better if the ball was...

[Law] Re: Wales Italy 6N 2020; was Biggar offside?

Unfortunately my contact in the RFU laws department has confirmed that he should have been penalised.

[6N] Re: Caterpillars getting out of hand?

They are now doing it and the WR have released a missive this last couple of weeks for refs to call ‘use it’ as soon as the ball is available and not wait for a ‘caterpillar’ to be formed. It is...

    [Law] Re: Taken back ?

When the ‘high tackle’ results in the player going to ground it is a tackle. If not then it is an ‘attempted’ high tackle. Or a high attempt at a tackle. But I know what you mean.

    [Law] Re: Taken back ?

Do you mean - drives him back and tackles him (goes to ground) and then a ruck forms? Can’t see how you can tackle someone and then drive them back.:) I assume you mean holds him up and drives him...

[Law] Re: Wales Italy 6N 2020; was Biggar offside?

Would you penalise the S/H if he went round into the position that Biggar was to dive pass the ball?
  8. [Law] Re: Folau’s online comments have taken a turn for the worse.

Last week in the UK we had a bishop saying that all sexual activity outside heterosexual marriage was wrong.

They have now apologised for saying that.

Re: One for the grammar police?

This was the ‘rule’ that I was taught. However, it has been proved to me that, like nearly all rules in life, it can only be used as a guide rather than a rule. Through considerable experience of...
  10. Re: Quins v Sarries - Unusual Timekeeper intervention ?

There was a Performance Reviewer present but his name is not Bob.
  11. Re: Quins v Sarries - Unusual Timekeeper intervention ?

Roy Maybank was the other. At least he was the one appointed. Did’t see game.

[Law] Re: Hand Off or Fend to the face/head/neck

I can agree with that.:) Only wanted to explain what Camquin had thought he’d heard/been told.

[Law] Re: Hand Off or Fend to the face/head/neck

For even more clarity, the ball had just left the ruck and that was why (probably) the referee did not see it. The No15 entered the ruck area late and the altercation took place. The contact cannot...

[Law] Re: Hand Off or Fend to the face/head/neck

The actual words used by the AR were “15 struck out with a flat hand” and the ref gave his reason to the captain as a “push to the face”. Take your pick.
The player who was struck was a player...

[Law] Re: Hand Off or Fend to the face/head/neck

Doesn’t really matter. It was off the ball and to the head. As far as I can see there wasn’t much force. We don’t need to go down the route of semantics on this one. Both are illegal. Both are a...

[Law] Re: Hand Off or Fend to the face/head/neck

The actual offence was aN open hand push/strike to the face to an off the ball player, so wasn’t a hand off. It was an AR call.

[Law] Re: Knock on into the dead ball area.

I can appreciate the different arguments for what ‘should’ be the outcome or what people prefer etc but the debate is rather pointless in my opinion because a 5M scrum is what you have to award...

Re: Pulling a player from the ruck/tackle

Can’t disagree with you. What is not always heard by the spectators is the ‘management’ of the situation or perhaps a downtime warning.

When you croc roll you have to bind on. Pulling does not involve binding. Hence my first post on this thread. All I, and other posters, are saying is that it is illegal and there are several laws...

Re: Pulling a player from the ruck/tackle

There are several that you could apply outside of Law 15. Try law 9 - 9.20c is fairly specific!
