Re: Covid-19 Returning to play in Sept?

Dickie, the "usual caveats" here are maintaining social distancing, so will make lineouts easier with a two metre gap, and running in tries will be easier too, but i am not sure how scrums will work!
  2. Re: Enforcement of current law - refereeing at the breakdown March 2020

Not convinced that the reward of the jackle is clear - I though the reward was if he beat the clearout and kept hold of the ball?

As I understand you can go to work, but only if your work is absolutely necessary and you cannot do it from home.

    Re: Coronavirus Impact

SRU announced yesterday that all rugby including grass roots and training is cancelled with effect from 6pm tomorrow. I think the plan is for it to be off for a couple of weeks, but if you follow...

[Law] Re: Penalty Try or not? Opinions please

Agree you handled it well and unless there were a couple of tacklers just about to stop the blue player it is a PT. As for the card, it is a high tackle, but only you saw the force applied and how...

[Law] Re: Whose knock-on is it anyway ?

For me red is juggling so is able to be tackled, but has not caught the ball from his original knock on so as it hits blue before he regathers, I would go blue scrum. That was the first I Fri cement...

[Tackle] Re: Pulling through at the tackle

This was my initial thought, was a ruck created then illegal action by red? But would really need to see it to let you know my split second decision. Just remember unless it was a howler, the ref got...

    Re: elbow RC

There was another one recently in pro14 that I thought also was harsh as a rc for a fend that was not elbow either.

[Ruck] Re: Question about off the feet in a ruck.

Welcome. From your description you seem to have gone off your feet, so by that you are liable to be penalised. Ignore how this is managed in TV rugby. And as said by others the ref may have judged...

    [Junior] Re: Tap and Go

Agree with Zebra and AC - the attacking 9 is not guaranteed a penalty if there is not an opposition free space, just that they will not interfere with play.

    Re: Henshaw on May

If I expected a 1m space, i would agree, but making it clear you expect players to actually be behind the back foot and not with their feet level with the back foot, you get a better game. I would...

[Junior] Re: Red and Yellow Cards at Youth Level

In age grade before cards, the referee usually has the power to require a substitution of a player who needs to calm down a bit. That way the individual learns, but the team is not penalised.

    Re: Henshaw on May

Good to hear that Jim has been listening to his coaches. As a general rule a slap from the 9's hands has to be by someone in the ruck, if not yet off the ground then that is handling in the ruck, or...

[Junior] Re: Role of the captain in schoolboy rugby?

I'm with PhilE on this. my one caveat would be to have at the very least marched them back 10m for backchat or penalised that behaviour or reversed a penalty before I get to the YC stage.

Re: New Front Row logic tree

PDF does not cover blood replacements, which actually would be one reason why you might go back to contested. So second requirement for a prop (blood replacement) and no prop available, AIU your...

Re: New Front Row logic tree

I think that is unlikely, but there may be competition regs that effectively do this. AIU under law 3, if you don't have FR replacements you don't get any replacements at all, but there is nothing...

[Line out] Re: Offside by QTI

The player was standing near the LOT. Although a lineout was taken, I think the ref warned the player not to interfere with a QT.
