[Line out] Re: Crusaders doing what they do best

Saturday's variation from the Crusaders (forgive the stills)

    3885

    5 & 7 (Whitelock and Todd)

    3886

Stepped out , Whitelock even out of shot ready to drift back in. Hardly meets the...

[Line out] Re: Crusaders doing what they do best

Certainly a poor decision and the wrong person driving it, imo. Seeing more these days of team of officials acting in concert rather than just the odd intervention

[Line out] Re: Crusaders doing what they do best

They can't peel until the ball leaves the hand and must keep moving until the line out has ended. Can't say there could even be any expectation that they are to be thrown or passed the ball. They are...

[Line out] Crusaders doing what they do best

    3882 3881

Crusaders doing what they do best. Should it really be allowed?

    Lineout:

    Taufua goes forward and right
Barrett heads off forward and right

    [Law] Re: Toulouse red card.

Is their opinion expressed around the basis of the decision or the correctness/appropriateness of the laws.

    The two are something different.

unpick this! And the chosen restart and the equity around the joint red cards?

Should schalk brits have been told to walk?

[Law] Re: Try annulled for foul play

He is clearly on the comms and it is clearly "stop the game" in the first instance.

So if it wasn't noise from elsewhere, then it was him calling more than just "stop"

    But hey ho, I don't...

[Law] Re: Try annulled for foul play

The call by the AR to "stop the game" rather made it material. So perhaps a moot point
  10. [Line out] Re: How do you resume the game for ball not going 5m?

    Bad drafting? Surely not!

At least we do know what they mean on this one. Or Perhaps not?
  11. [Line out] Re: How do you resume the game for ball not going 5m?

Hard to say the ref might not have awarded a free kick for what he might have viewed as a delay in the throw, or entering and recovering in the 5m channel (always though the laws are a bit vague on...
  12. [Line out] Re: How do you resume the game for ball not going 5m?

    The ball must:

Reach the five-metre line before it hits the ground or is played.Sanction: Option of lineout or scrum. If the lineout is chosen and the ball is again not thrown straight, a scrum...
  13. [Line out] Re: Are there any offiside lines at a quick throw

Able to watch a good dose of the super rugby and IMO the QTI appears to be much more of a thing than in the NH. As such you do see players closing down the space beyond the line of touch just for the...
  14. [Tackle] Re: South African schoolboy rugby viral tackle video

    Locking the stable door.....

My point is about reducing the incidences rather than applying a sanction after the event. That should be our concern here.
  15. [Line out] Re: Are there any offiside lines at a quick throw

I am very much with The Fat on this one. If you look back, this serves to cement all the posts in one of the most recent threads on this.
  16. [Tackle] Re: South African schoolboy rugby viral tackle video

While the initial view might be that he flew in off his feet, closer inspection actually shows he pretty much had his left foot planted at the point of contact and it was subsequent mechanics and...

    Re: Hands in the ruck?

Surely some leeway around who is picking the ball from the ruck. The ball came back and he was acting in the half back capacity. That there were players in contact seeking to to prepare to bind on to...

[6N] Re: WAL v IRE - in at the side

yes. The contact bit is about the conditions for a ruck to have been formed. I did have to recheck myself. This new law book does have you doubting yourself from time to time!

    [Law] Re: deliberate knock up

Where do you draw the line?

Ugly and cynical if it doesn't pay off?
Brilliant and opportunistic if it does?

in the absence of absolute clarity to laws on intentional knock forwards, ones that...

    [Law] Re: deliberate knock up

How can it be wrong to disallow attempted interceptions that pay off? If It's is gathered before it hits the ground or another payer then good luck I say.

It might be ugly if the percentages tend...

[Law] Re: When is a knock-on not a knock on

[Law] Re: Is this forward pass

If I see it I give it. I don't ignore the laws and it is not in my ref playbook on materiality. Bit like a crooked feed really.

Re: Reaching Over in the Maul

To be totally correct they can bind on alongside (having come form that onside position) so long as they have bound on to that hindmost player.

Definitely agree with the view we are seeing more...
