    Re: Cavalry Charge

I was mostly impressed with how quickly they formed the scrum and cracked on after the held up call was made

Re: Club refs, in England, are they covered?

    So, in the small print of the policy wording (http://www.englandrugbyinsurance.co.uk/uploads/documents/englandrugbyinsurance//RFU_Clubs_2019_FINAL_wording_(3).pdf) we have;

    "Official shall mean...

Re: Club refs, in England, are they covered?

Happens, regularly :-( I coach U13 and organise the fixtures at my club, and obviously have visibility in WTR of fixtures in the county, we always request county refs through the appointments system...

[Law] Re: 37 Seconds red card

I know players are coached to jump and lift the knee (both momentum and protection), but I was waiting for this as saw a couple in the world cup where studs were at head height but luckily no contact...

[Junior] Re: Knocked out but played on

Polite word I'd suggest "Excuse me sir, he / she looked to have signs of concussion to me, your call but might be safer to sub him / her off, I probably would insist on it if it were my game"

[Law] Re: Law 12.6 Kick off

Had this yesterday, really windy up in the North East and ball went 10 and blew back, I gave a shout of 'gone 10' but kicking team froze and receivers gathered and run in an easy try. Same team also...

[Junior] Re: Knocked out but played on

Absolutely *this* - I had a U18 cup game recently where one of the coaches (who is a fairly senior county coach also) tried this on, player coming off for an HIA, I said no, he replied that they had...

[Line out] Re: Offside by QTI

It's in the line out and quick throw section, a 'line out' is very specifically defined including the moment it's formed and all else (including offside lines) from there on, quick throw has it's own...

    Re: booing & Barbarians

I don't know enough of the Barbarians history, but adopting any nation's anthem would seem strange to me - World In Union or somethiing similar seems a popular choice

[Scrum] Re: Kick off not 10.

Happens a lot in girls games, especially U13 / U15 friendlies - I ask them to try, if it turns into a punt that goes 10 then play on

Re: Where are you this weekend - 2019-20

i think we did actually, a bloody cold weekend too - and yes, an annual thing we do - yesterday I was sat in the sun pitch side, enjoying a beer post match - in December - today I’m scraping the car!

Re: When is the ball out?

Nah, I’m mostly in the middle, at the wrong angle with players as TJ’s (sometimes facing the right way), very rare I have to consider the plane of touch at all.

Re: When is the ball out?

But he didn't catch it, so we have a scenario where a player (not in touch) touches the ball (not in touch) and then it ends up in touch. If he had caught it then play on

Re: When is the ball out?

At the point it's touched it's not in touch, so go back to the beginning of the process when it hits the deck, now that it is in touch, put there by the player who touched it last - or am I missing a...

Re: Offside from kick - place of penalty

Yeah, looks like England asked for the mark from where it was kicked (no idea whether they were expecting scrum or kick), ref half though about it, something clicked in place that there was an option...

Still offside? Would need to come from an onside position as he's still technically 'in front'? No law reference to hand but am confident I could sell it

[Law] Re: captain asking not to play advantage

Yes, yes, probably (my PMB includes captain taking responsibility for players that choose to go quick, so if he does I'm calling that the captains consent).

  25. Re: RFU Regulation 15 - 8 MAUL - Use it or Lose it - 5,4,3,2,1.

Ah, yes hadn't spotted that, was distracted with the verbal countdown - U14 they can keep marching forward *then* they get 5 seconds, younger age groups it's a straight 5 seconds
