Re: accidentally taking a free kick

When it first became legal for the player taking a PK to play it next without restriction (1964), there was a trick play whereby the taker would stand by the ball instructing team mates where to go...

[Law] Re: Lifters lift a teammate to block a PK

[Law] Re: Lifters lift a teammate to block a PK

Penalties and conversions are essentially restricted forms of contest.
  6. Re: a good example of the momentum "forward pass"

A classic example of why people get it wrong. The passer is tackled and stopped dead just after passing (but not illegally late) so the ball is clearly in front of him - which is NOT the correct...
  7. [Law] Re: World Rugby announces law amendment relating to scoring against the post protecto

You are unlikely to get many goal-line situations in any one game, which under current law means the result could well turn on who has the significant advantage of being the attacking team.

    Is...

[Law] Re: a few new boy questions

A couple of years ago there was considerable confusion over quite when the ball was out of a ruck. Some argued that one hand on was enough, whereas others said it had to be lifted (clear?). Under...

[Line out] Re: new boy questions round 3

Key advice. Remember the old adage: "The ball has never yet been known to commit an offence."

It's particularly true when the ball is kicked. Take a second to watch the kicker rather than...
  10. [Law] Re: World Rugby announces law amendment relating to scoring against the post protecto

So be it. At least the problem could disappear at the top levels. The law would not need changing again as lower levels catch up.

How often did she find it necessary to actually speak Welsh?

I use a static bike and go for a 20 minute "run" most days.

  19. [Line out] Re: At what point can a player leave a lineout to be passed to by the scrum half?

There is a special law about long throws:
18.3 Once the ball has been thrown, a lineout player may move beyond the 15-metre line. If the ball does not go beyond the 15-metre line, the player must...

18.38 Other than by moving to the receiver position if that position is empty, no lineout player may leave the lineout until it has ended. Sanction: Penalty.
That is the basic position. However:...
