    Re: Spray paint

Ahh.....perhaps "pocket" should have been mentioned......Didn't feel terribly safe there though to be honest. I will persist with the holster next time and hope the shaving foam fits in there. Have...

    Re: Spray paint

Started off in the holster on my shorts. I managed to break the top of the canister early in so then put the tin in my shorts. Was v easy to whip it out for scrums and lineouts.

    Re: Spray paint

Just thought it would be helpful to search "spray" before I asked the question. I reffed a game on Saturday and used vanishing spray for the first time. I had thought about it earlier in the year and...

Your actions sound good to me FF. It does make me laugh when these situations occur (and they will continue to do so). A year ago we were stuffing rabbit holes on the FOP with grass although when I...

    Missed punches in a brawl

Was watching a you tube "handbags that developed" video over Christmas and came up with the Wales v Ireland Grand slam decider in 2005. Sidoli and O'Connell have a great big tussle on the floor with...

[Junior] Re: Refereeing junior games and adult games

Treating the youngsters properly and professionally works for me as well. A couple of times we have had to abandon matches ten or so minutes early, once when the posts blew over and once for a...

And that no tolerance level is useful at that age range.

[Junior] Re: Refereeing junior games and adult games

After my first assessment (third game) my assessor said to me "You're very confident aren't you?" I drew myself up to my full height.

"Of course you've got loads of things wrong", he said "but...

Just to give an update following on from all the helpful advice. My match has been pulled, but I have been given a local Devon derby instead on Boxing Day. I rang the referee's liason officer and...

Hey Father flipper. Welcome to the forum! You will find everyone delighted to help as they have all been there once.

Firstly don't fret about it at this stage. Yes, we have all had games where we...
  12. [Law] Re: How do you handle indirect back-chat like this ?

I suspect most refs issued more reds in the first season. I issued 7 in mine. 3 in the second season and 1 so far this (for 2 yellows, both professional fouls). I suspect part of it is the ability to...

    Boxing Day Match (Fun)

I would be grateful for any advice.

I was offered a boxing day fixture last year at my home club and was about to accept when one of the refs in my society told me how great it was reffing on...

    1. How well did the referee manage the tackle area and ensured that the tackler released and arriving players were legal?

    2. How well did the referee manage the offside line at rucks and mauls,...

    Re: Report on Referee cards

I also find it rather disarms the spectators when I ask them for anonymous on line feedback. They often say "really sir?"

One of the questions above all is very important to me:

    "How much did...

Interestingly not my experience. I find the more you trust the players the more they buy into you. And the more trust you give them the more honest the answers are. It sounds bizarre, but it does...

    Ok, let me explain.

    Two different scenarios:

Professional Game - Red. There are enough eyes and TMO's and citing officers that despite RP not seeing Dan Cole knock into him can gauge what the...
