    Re: Goodbye Raelene

Its an interesting trend I have seen in Aussie rugby over the years - player power and Sydney rugby politics controlling the game - a case of the tail wagging the dog.

    It started with the...

[Golden Oldies] Re: What happened next?

Ian Clarke (All Black, and brother of Don Clarke) did this when playing for the Barbarians against the All Blacks in 1964. He took a mark from the 25 yard dropout kick by his brother, and kicked the...

    Re: French Red Card

I have just watched this incident for the first time, and I cannot see where there is any argument.

White 6 ran in and pushed a Blue player to the ground, and Blue 11 ran in and tackled White 6 to...
  6. [Law] Re: Folauís online comments have taken a turn for the worse.

Godwin's law is just another one of those eponymous laws, like Betteridge's Law or Mertons Law... they are intended to be humorous rather than literal truth.
  7. [In-goal] Re: Restart into in goal - defender kicks it dead via touch in goal - decision?

    I agree.

I have always interpreted "without delay" to allow a player to have a quick look to see if anything is on then make the ball dead.

However if, for example, he picks up the ball and...

These are not ad hominim IMO - YMMV

Yeah, I don't buy into that kind of sick spin. I find it disgusting.

    1. Nothing wrong with that kind of language if you are making a point in the way I was and not using it ad hominem.

    2. That isn't how Google Indexing works anyway.

Re: [6N] Eddie Jones Post Match Comments

This is very similar to what happened with Kyle Lomax in the Blues v Hurricanes match. A team-mate had tackled an opponent, Lomax came in, right arm tucked, shoulder first and made direct contact to...

  15. [Law] Re: Folauís online comments have taken a turn for the worse.

    Cheeky aren't you!?

It was nothing to do with "not offending", it was to do with what I was taught as correct grammar. The name of religions are proper nouns and ought to be capitalized, so...
  16. [Law] Re: Folauís online comments have taken a turn for the worse.

I see it as appeasement and the assuaging of guilty consciences. Its a result of pressure put on them because they know they ****ed up.

This kind of gesture is only a noble one if you make it...
  17. [Law] Re: Folauís online comments have taken a turn for the worse.

Go ask a gay Christian teenage rugby player if he felt threatened and intimidated by Folau's bigoted rant.

Re: Law 15.7 binding onto player in the ruck

I agree. Everyone there is in the ruck,

    a. whether or not they are on the ground
    b. whether or not they are on their feet
    c. whether they were there initially (formed the ruck) or joined later...

Re: Law 15.7 binding onto player in the ruck

We'll have to disagree on that. IMO, the ball is still in the ruck. I would have PK White 18 for offside at the ruck.

Nope, the law is clear unequivocal on that..

Re: Law 15.7 binding onto player in the ruck

Show me where it says that in Law. All I can find is....

    ENDING A RUCK
    18. The ruck ends and play continues when the ball leaves the ruck or when the ball in the ruck is on or over the goal line....

Re: Law 15.7 binding onto player in the ruck

    Sure

    Joining a ruck

    5. An arriving player must be on their feet and join from behind their offside line.

    6. A player may join alongside but not in front of the hindmost player.

    7. A...

Re: Law 15.7 binding onto player in the ruck

Its a ruck, and the ball is not out.

There is no legal way for white 18 to play the ball with his hands (PK for hands in the ruck)

There is no legal way for him to step forward until the ball...

[6N] Re: Wales v France - Did the ref bottle it?

The way I was taught, a sequence of scrum PKs is not in and of itself a valid reason for awarding a PT. What should result from it is YCs.

For a PT to be awarded for a scrum PK such as collapsing...

[6N] Re: Wales v France - Did the ref bottle it?

I concur with the "WTF" expressions of surprise by others.

Even more surprising is that neither the commentators or the players seems to see anything out of the ordinary with the decision.
