    I think this is a useful clarification. I've always believed that, in general, teams who do not contest the line out back off 2-3 metres and then stand there appealing for a penalty so are offside.

    On occasions when it didn't matter I've let the tee carrier hold the ball. The law says a team-mate so that could be a replacement then.
