[RWC] Re: How are the RWC refs doing so far ?

Only saw it once....but to me he didn't look offside.
There were 2 defenders with hands on ground directly prior to this. Did he make the error of thinking the penalised player was one of them?

Re: End of Game - Did I get it Right?

Had a situation a year or two ago.
Youths game, time expired in 1st half (players aware) Red attacking Blue goal line 5m out pick and goes.
Blue player goes to ground after a tackle holding his...

No. Having said that are going for the posts, they MUST do so. Scrum to the opposition.[/QUOTE]

    But they DID do so!

If it's OK for opposition to catch the ball and run the length of the pitch...
  10. Re: AUSvGEO - Naisani YC - a reason for concern?

Personally I wouldn't agree...I think the two were different and handled appropriately.

[Law] Re: Penalty Kick at Goal Rules

Why not just treat it as a failed conversion and restart with 22 same as normal?

[RWC] Re: RSA vs ITA - Uncontested Scrums?

There seems to be two different scenarios being discussed here as if both had the same consequences.

A... A team not being able to field a front row and their respective replacements.

    B. ..A...

    Re: Feeding

So....it used to be that any front row player could strike for the ball, but AFAIK the newest version of the good book states the hooker must strike for the ball. Is there a change?

[RWC] Re: RSA vs ITA - Uncontested Scrums?

Didnít they have the required number of replacements but both THs were injured so they had fulfilled their obligations ie no need to reduce.

Re: one flag up, one flag down

So when I suggest that a referee might recognise by the body language of the TJs /ARs that there may be a need to confer you seem to sneer at the idea , however you then go on to tell us about your...

Re: one flag up, one flag down

Actually no.... this is confusing, but, I am referring to qualified referees appointed as TJs.

Re: one flag up, one flag down

Look...the TJs are there to assist the Ref in making the decision not to make it for them.
If the TJs disagree, agree, are too slow to get in position or whatever else then Ref makes the call and...

Re: one flag up, one flag down

No....the Ref should always be well positioned and attentive enough to clearly see the balls flight and would then look to TJs for signal.
Based on body language alone I think it would be clear if...

Re: one flag up, one flag down

    There isn't a formal signal.
Presumably if the ref is confidant enough that it went over then they can overrule.
The referee should easily be able to see by the reactions of the TJs that there is...

Re: one flag up, one flag down

In IRFUland it's both or none as the normal routine.
It's then up to Ref to confer or make decision by themselves.

Re: Lineout within 5m of Goal Line

This doesnít make sense to me....
Line of touch.....Line through the mark or place......a line parallel to the touchline.
