    [Golden Oldies] Re: Team Y/C

At a society meeting we saw a video of Stu Dickinson (ex international referee) give a yellow card after about 2 minutes of play without having blown a penalty - there were a series of advantages as...
  2. [Law] Re: New Urban Myth - Only a prop can take a knee!

Still pretty much the same, except now Colts play between 3rds and 2nds - so 4ths KO at 10.30 (the old blokes love that !!)
  3. Re: Do you walk through the tunnel after the game?

Thinking over the last couple of seasons i cant think of a single time the ref of our first teams games going near the tunnel.
  4. [Law] Re: New Urban Myth - Only a prop can take a knee!

Every junior game and senior games below first grade. Our lower grade games have defined start and finish times to make sure First grade start on time

I should mention that unlike the British...
  5. [Law] Re: New Urban Myth - Only a prop can take a knee!

This is one of the things that can be tough here in Aust where many games have no added time for any reason.
  6. Re: Do you walk through the tunnel after the game?

I dont feel its appropriate, while players are doing that Im generally thanking my ar's and checking details with the managers
  7. Re: Do you walk through the tunnel after the game?

Never, ever, ever. And as a coach and player Im not a fan

    Re: [RWC] Eng v SA

Fair call, but would they have had to drop to 14?

    [Law] Re: Numbers

I would disallow it under 3.7- although probably not directly supported in law - and report it to the union.

Interestingly if it was an AR that brought it to my attention rather than me noticing...
  10. [Scrum] Re: "Modern" interpretations of scrum dominance.

Agree, but if the alternative is a PK at every scrum?

    [Tackle] Re: Tackle Release

The distinction of "tackler" is redundant now anyway since tbeir rights were abolished

    [Tackle] Re: Tackle Release

true, its a scrum but its the only scenario where the standing "tackler" wouldn't need to release

"Captain, you know you're better than them, they know you're better than them and I know you're better than them. Everyone works on Monday. Win the ball, don't destroy them and I wont go uncontested"

    Re: [RWC] Eng v SA

I don't know why they give runner up medals on the day. Its a no win. If the losing team look miserable they are bad losers, if they don't look miserable they don't care.

    The AFL (Aussie Rules)...
  17. [Scrum] Re: "Modern" interpretations of scrum dominance.

I don't like the "second shove" being used to win penalties.

You've already won the ball, you are 30 metres out so pushover try is out of the equation. Just get the ball out and get on with the...

  21. [Ruck] Re: Scrum halves playing the ball back with their foot from the side of the ruck

    ?

Agree there are bodies lying on the deck in many cases, but that's not what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about when the ball is lying there in clear view. A forward (or anyone else) could...
  22. [Ruck] Re: Scrum halves playing the ball back with their foot from the side of the ruck

Isn't that why you pay forwards? Why cant they ruck the ball back?

    [Ruck] Re: Off feet.

My bugbear is the red players (ie ball carriers teammates) flopping over

(and don't get me started on cleanouts from the side which seem to be fine these days)

Re: Most boring WC semi ever?

I am not saying low scoring = boring and high scoring = exciting. Of course that is rubbish. But, a bit of flair and excitement wouldn't hurt.

Maybe we need to re-extend the mark to "in own half"...
