Re: This Should NOT Happen in any Sport

This season I have had 3 red cards, so

    1. 2YC (for 3 deliberate knock ons) Level 5
    2. RC punching (3 weeks) Level 6
    3. RC punching - No sanction yet (It will be a lenghy ban, as it was about...

Re: This Should NOT Happen in any Sport

I accept that my approach is sometimes not ideal, but it is my stance on it. I can accept others may use YC for handbags or 50/50s and I dont think they are wrong for doing so, however I would be...

Re: This Should NOT Happen in any Sport

Dave is correct that a well managed game can prevent flair ups and a good referee can note a distinct change in temperature and has the tools to manage it.

However even if the referee doesnt do...

Re: This Should NOT Happen in any Sport

For this it should be Murder, not sure of the law in that country.

For me always, Punch RC, every time, no exceptions ever. My thought, fighting and assault has no place on a rugby pitch.

Re: "High" tackle just before try

Remember as a referee, do you need to bring undue attention on yourself?

This seems like a try with a quiet word after the kick, nothing more needed.

a PT is a massive call, and because of the...

    Re: televised local games

I suppose thats fair enough, depending on the game. There was no reaction from the other players.

    Re: scrum binding issue

But that wouldn't happen and no not all have to have the same amount of warnings. Not all will be binding incorrectly.

Also you also only need to PK a bind that collapses the scrum ;). If its...

    Re: scrum binding issue

I always think is it a penalty I need to give? Is the decision credible?
  13. Re: How long can a Jumper be "Supported" in the air?

It is done by teams to catch them offside, jumper catches and dummys to the SH hoping they all come through the line.

Peep - Lads you lift him and you bring him straight back down. We are here to...

    Re: scrum binding issue

    Easy.

Tight head get your bind up and allow the lose head to bind.
Next one. I have asked you, next time it will be a penalty and the one after that guess where you will be going. Sort it out.

Re: Army V Navy Babcock Trophy. Who's going?

I was there, referees dinner on the friday night and the drinking commenced with neat Gin at 0800s.
Needless to say I am glad when the match started to have a rest from the drinking :)

    Brilliant...
  16. Re: Referees Meetings with their Union, Coaches and Players

It shouldnt even be a consideration or any form of issue IMO. Why is colour of boots ever an issue? I truly dont understand?? Please dont say its a bright colour, or brings attention to you, then...
  17. Re: Referees Meetings with their Union, Coaches and Players

It happens at all levels. Make a stand and the old farts see you as trouble and end your promotion quickly, i have seen it happen to a number of very good referees.

I mean to show you how stuck...

  20. Re: If you doubted the effects of not refereeing the put-in law see here

Of course you have to apply the laws, but sensibly and not just as written.
But that is easier said than done, practically I mean at the elite level.
We have some issues as referees -
    1. the...
  21. Re: Clarification of feet of Hooker when throwing in !

That would be useful for development in your report, if that was in my report I would ask what material effect it had? Probably none! If a ref pinged it, it would be pedantic and if an assessor...
  22. Re: If you doubted the effects of not refereeing the put-in law see here

Or just have a different opinion ;) rather than know better.

There again I seem to get games with no scrum resets ;)

  23. Re: If you doubted the effects of not refereeing the put-in law see here

There has been less injuries with CTPE and CTS than any other engagement, hence why the IRB wont change the calls to much.
  24. Re: Clarification of feet of Hooker when throwing in !

No its only a problem for us spectators, not the players, coaches, DoRs etc etc.
and its only a problem for us because we listen to loud mouth commentators who has nothing good to say or anything...
  25. Re: Clarification of feet of Hooker when throwing in !

Empathy? do you really referee zero tolerance?

The scrums are only a mess at the very top of the game, and Brian Moore shouts alot so people think its a big problem. Its not. As others level 6...
