    Re: unsportsmanlike ...

Well whatever about the 'celebrations ' , the post sending off reactions of some of the players getting in the referees face and even touching the referee are card worthy

Re: what about this tackle --

Is a late tackle not a late tackle...?
The tackler may have been 'committed' and it may be just a timing issue...but it IS late!
For me it's a penalty and I would imagine that nobody on the field...
  4. [Scrum] Re: When, exactly, does the scrum-half end the scrum...?

Personally, I'd like to see both....
Especially at the underage levels referred to!
    ie: picked up and out!

    Re: Referees eyeware

No but they should be aware of the possibility of accidental collisions and for their own, and everybody elses, protection the obvious choice would be the only acceptable option for players!

Why not go with the option that is deemed suitable for players?

Good on you......and good on the Union that allows you to.

In IRFUland it's compulsory retirement at age 60 for 'Branch' referees.

    Depends on local regulations also....

Not sure how to interpret the description of the 'straight arm'.

[Ruck] Re: Jackal vs hands in the ruck?

I certainly wouldn't be calling a ruck over merely because it ( ball) has been 'lifted'. Lifted and clear and even actively being played might be a better standard for me.

    Edit..(ball)

There is a certain Ireland hooker who is in the habit of actually licking his own hands as he approaches a lineout. He must have built up some immune system by now!!!

I doubt if he is even a player...but if he is a player who is frustrated by good preventative calls from referees then maybe we are doing something...

    [7's/10's] Re: "tackler release"

The call by the referee was good management and was correct based on convention!
However, as I have pointed out elsewhere, technically a player voluntarily going to ground is not a tackle.
  25. [Law] Re: Wrong? definition of Tackled Player - time to redefine Tackler?

Mich, you seem to be of the opinion that tacklers can still play the ball from the direction of their own goal line after regaining their feet. This is incorrect.
