  1. [Scrum] Re: New scrum law to be introduced immediately, apparently...

Not everyone attends CPD courses, and your seriously not going to tell me that GMS is up to date? :buttkick:
  2. [Scrum] Re: New scrum law to be introduced immediately, apparently...

WR have informed the RFU, who in turn have informed all the Societies.
As and when Societies pass it on to referees depends on them, but the don't need to do it before the start of the season so may...

Re: what about this tackle --

I thought the two went hand in hand.
If you are less than one pace out you are committed (you cant change direction or stop yourself).
Two paces or more out you are not committed as you can change...

Re: what about this tackle --

It's defined by one pace from the kicker or more than one pace...as I described in post #5

Re: what about this tackle --

But you have to define late and set a standard:

Tackle as the ball leaves his hand but before it hits his boot? Is that late?
Tackle as it hits hit boot? Is that late?
    Tackle as it leaves his...

Re: what about this tackle --

I received advice a while ago through our society that following a kick, one step (from the tackler) before the tackle is fine, two steps is late.
In this video there is less than one step between...
  8. [Scrum] Re: When, exactly, does the scrum-half end the scrum...?

I want to see the ball out of the scrum or picked up. We ideally want the ball away and play to continue.
If the opposing scum half also has to stay out of the pocket, which means he isn't...

    [Law] Re: Advantage Quiz again

Just to clarify for any new ref's reading this (because I don't think its been mentioned).

Because the player with a foot in touch catches the ball before it crosses the plane of touch; he has...

[Maul] Re: Is this a forward pass?

What if the player nearer to the opposition goal line rips the ball off his teammate, instead of his teammate handing it to him?

How do you tell the difference?
  11. [Tackle] Re: Wales v All Blacks U20 - how is this not a red card?

If you tackle around the chest and the ball carrier dips or stumbles you are going to make contact with the head, and that's an offence. It doesn't really matter whether you agree with it or not,...

[Line out] Re: Another Line Out Question..

But this is a team adding a player at the last second to give them a one player (receiver) advantage in numbers. It's not the same thing at all.

But to answer your question if the numbers were...
  13. [Tackle] Re: Wales v All Blacks U20 - how is this not a red card?

You can't use any mitigation because there were aggravating factors.

Better one quick whistle early on if it saves several later in the game.

[Line out] Re: Another Line Out Question..

Just nip it in the bud.
Otherwise the other team will try the same thing, then you will have players darting in and out of the lineout.
Just stop it early doors and then give yourself some peace...

[Line out] Re: Another Line Out Question..

    Manage it.

Peep, guys are you having a receiver or not? Make your mind up and set early.

    Right lets go again.
  18. [Tackle] Re: Wales v All Blacks U20 - how is this not a red card?

The chart says no mitigation can be considered if Aggravating factors exist. Aggravating factors = "if the tackler and BC are in open space and the tackler has clear line of sight and time before...
  19. [Tackle] Re: Wales v All Blacks U20 - how is this not a red card?

    Following the new flowchart.

It fits the description of a high tackle, not a shoulder charge.
There is direct arm contact with the head (4)
It is Direct with a high degree of danger...

[Tackle] Re: Brumbies vs Reds YC

    As i see it...
Using the new grid (are they using it too?)
It's not a shoulder charge becasue the tacklers arms are not behind him and not tucked away in a sling position.
    So i'ts a high tackle...

    Re: Ref watch..

Touch screen on the Apple watch doesn't like the rain either, if there's water on the screen or your fingers it can give erroneous actions.
