Re: Ball over plane of touch but blown back in

I tried to call play on, some did, some didn't. It was carnage for a few seconds.

On reflection I should have blown up, apologised and let them kick the penalty to touch again.

    Big learning...

Re: Ball over plane of touch but blown back in

As someone who has fallen foul of this I can definitely say "don't blow your whistle until the ball touches something in touch!".

I once blew for touch after a ball kicked into touch from a...

    Re: Worcester v Bath .. 97 minutes

    Same as me.
Once you get to fulltime the watch stops, so you don't know how much extra time you have played.
If you set three periods instead of two that solves it.

    Re: Worcester v Bath .. 97 minutes

My watch counts down, but you tell it how many segments (halves) there are in a game.
I set it to three, so it continues to count after the 80 minutes are up.

Last week at Level 9 I had almost 15...

    Re: Worcester v Bath .. 97 minutes

In the Premiership the clock counts down from 40 and then stays at zero. Hence the timekeeper having been instructed to use a separate timer if the half goes past 40 minutes.

    In the Champions Cup...

I am not convinced that a bobbled catch can now claim a Mark, but have asked the question of laws@RFU.com

[Tackle] Re: Tap tackle , or actually no tackle

A shout of "not held, play on" usually suffices after a tap tackle.
Open play still so the red player can approach the ball from any angle.

    [Law] Re: Inadvertent touch down

But in this scenario he gathered the ball off the ground, lifted it off the ground, and then placed it back on the ground.
So your scenario doesn't fit the one we are discussing.

    [Law] Re: Inadvertent touch down

That's not quite how it happened.
He dived on the loose ball short of the goal line and slid into in-goal.
As he slid over the line he was half on his side and the ball was off the ground.
    He then...

    It's about poor tackling technique.

But we are discussing a quick tap aren't we?
So the kick travels 2 inches. I don't think the 10m law was designed to cover quick taps.

[Law] Re: In front of the quick tap

    5. As above. No requirement for them to stand still or retire, just stay out of the way and don't interfere with play.

A player is offside in open play if that player is in front of a team-mate...
