  1. Re: Giving priority to Youth and Women's matches

Thanks everyone - I suspected as much!
  2. Giving priority to Youth and Women's matches

There's been a rumour (for some months) in my region that the RFU and RFRU are asking societies to prioritise allocating officials to Youth and/or Womens matches rather than to senior Men's games....

    [Law] Re: 'Technical offences?'

Agreed - but if one of the yellows is deemed a technical offence then there is no further playing ban - hence why I was surprised to see Blair Cowan playing the following week and looked into it....

    [Law] Re: 'Technical offences?'

That's what I thought too and it prompted me to try and find out what is or isn't a technical offence.

    [Law] 'Technical offences?'

Question: Is there a definitive list of 'technical offences' which if yellow carded and aggregated to a red card would not lead to a further sanction from the disciplinary panel ( a la Blair Cowan...
  6. [Law] Re: Restart after TMO shows that ball is short of the try line

    Thanks chaps !
  7. [Law] Re: Restart after TMO shows that ball is short of the try line

Is it 20.4.d - scrum after a stoppage?
  8. [Law] Restart after TMO shows that ball is short of the try line

I just saw some of the highlights of the England v Wales U20 match. A try was awarded after consultation with the TMO (in my view correctly) when an England player was hauled down shy of the Wales...

[Mini/Midi] Re: Under 14s kicking to touch from a penalty

Agreed, looks like an error. It doesn't seem to accord with the other law differences.

[Mini/Midi] Under 14s kicking to touch from a penalty

I'm due to AR an u14 Cup Final later today so just boning up on the age grade rules of play. There is no mention of kicking to touch from a penalty so I would assume the 'normal' laws apply - in...
  12. Going in to the side of a 'maul' over the goal line

Here is the scenario. Red are in possession and mauling towards the Blue goal-line. Red crosses the goal line, with the ball also beyond the goal line, but struggle to ground the ball (the maul is...
  13. [Kit] Re: Are football studs now specifically outlawed?

Thanks gents - I get this now. Looks like my society is trying to simplify things by saying 'no football studs' across the board plus the added safety of the pre-match stud inspection. I'll be on the...
  14. [Kit] Re: Are football studs now specifically outlawed?

Here is a quote from the letter:

......will be following World Rugby's Regulation 12 in relation to studs in rugby boots. The Regulation has been in force for many years. We have noticed the...
  15. [Kit] Are football studs now specifically outlawed?

I've just transferred between societies and been copied in on some emails mandating that we strictly enforce the Reg 12 Sch 2 in respect of studs this season. The email also states that 'football...

Re: Definition of an attacking/defending side

Having not even done my level 2 course yet I'm not sure World Rugby would appreciate me pointing out 'errors'. Perhaps I'll raise it with my RFU educators at the weekend and take it from there!

Re: Definition of an attacking/defending side

I guess the only thing I can rely on is...if it looks like an attacking side then it probably is! Thanks guys for some useful responses to my first post.

Re: Definition of an attacking/defending side

    That helps me, thanks.

So if there were, say, multiple knocks on and it wasn't clear which side last had proper 'possession' then you could award the scrum to the side in the oppositions' half?

    Definition of an attacking/defending side

Hope this is the correct place to post this? I'm doing some revision ahead of my Level 2 Referee's Course and I'm confused about the definitions of attacking and defending sides.

    The World Rugby...
