[Maul] Re: Question on driving maul at a lineout ??

    The non-offending side.

Sorry, but it makes no sense to reward the ball carrying side for an accidental offside. If there's an accidental offside, there's a scrum and the non-offending side get...

[Maul] Re: Question on driving maul at a lineout ??

The participating LO players can always stay in the line and move forward or back to avoid creating a maul; they don't have to leave the LO.

That's how I understand it. As I see it, in a...

    [Law] Re: First Match

Be careful here because this one can easily catch you out.

If the ball is kicked in-goal and grounded "without delay" you offer the grounding team the option of Kick Again or scrum on the centre...
  4. [Law] Re: Mark awarded, player permitted to pass rather than kick

Provided the player claiming the Mark kicks the ball first (must leave the mark or kicked out of his own hands) he doesn't HAVE to kick for touch and can pass it back to a teammate if he wants. The...

    Re: Don't Ask!

I wish more clubs would do something similar; the old characters are getting fewer and fewer by the year.

It's too late when they're gone.

[Line out] Re: Crusaders doing what they do best

And my first reaction is why do it then?

It's obviously a pre-planned move, so they obviously think that they're getting an advantage by leaving the LO early.

[Ruck] Re: Jackal vs hands in the ruck?

I did, but I thought there had been a clarification or guidance sent out that once the ruck had formed everybody had to release the ball.

I know it's not what the law says, but I'll bring it up...

[Ruck] Re: Jackal vs hands in the ruck?

Hang about. My understanding is that if the ball is still on the floor and the Jackler has his hands on it, even the Jackler has to take his hands off once a ruck has formed. Ie the Jackler can grab...

    [Law] Re: First Match

I think a bit of nerves is good.

I went into my first match too confident and had an absolute bloody nightmare of a game. A good mate of mine said once "Remember, it's not about you" which I...

    Re: No tackle..?

    But why?

What's the difference between being carried and being lifted? Would the ban on carrying apply to team mates or just opponents? I just don't think it's a big issue - and if it happens and...

    Re: No tackle..?

There's already a law against Dangerous Play.

Having your nuts crushed while being dumped in touch may have been humiliating, but it wasn't dangerous IMO.

    Re: No tackle..?

For me, the BC has just been pushed / carried to touch.

No offence (he wasn't tipped past the horizontal etc) so LO for me.

    [Law] Re: Time and PK

Exactly; they only have 60 seconds if they are kicking a PK for goal. I think that with a PK or FK they just have a "reasonable" time.

In that case if they wanted a WI meeting I reckon I would...

[Law] Re: In front of knock on

The incident Crossref refers to is the PK awarded after the "Not Releasing".

To me, Quins player was offside and was not put onside before interfering with play. That's a PK offence for me.

[Law] Re: In front of knock on

Would Red be classed as "Lazy Runners"? :chin:

If they are then passing would not put them onside; only a 5m run or a kick would put them onside.

The Red offside players can put themselves onside by moving either behind or level with their No 15.

[Law] Re: In front of knock on

The ball was kicked by the opposition, so Red can't be offside from the kick.

But they're not "better off" - they're still offside and "liable for sanction" I think the wording says until they...

[Law] Re: In front of knock on

As I see it there are only 3 options. The Red players can:

Put themselves onside - ie getting level or behind the Red No 15
Wait for Red 15 to put them onside or
    Wait for another onside Red...
  21. [In-goal] Re: Defender passes ball into own in-goal. Ball kicked dead by attacker.

Can Anyone Recommend Good Leather Boots?

  25. [Tackle] Re: No-tackle. Can offside lines be estabilshed by being over the ball ?

    Really?

You do realise that Green are playing from right to left and not top to bottom don't you! If we assume that WAS a tackle, that would be one of the most blatant "in from the side"...
