    Re: [RWC] 10m Law

    But 10.4.c itself says
.Was in front of a team-mate who kicked the ball and fails to retire immediately behind an onside team-mate or an imaginary line across the field 10 metres

    So a player...

    [Law] Re: Clock

I had 'can't take a second one quickly' just last week...

rather annoyingly the team taking the PK also believed the same myth .. so they didn't take it quickly and instead meekly waited for the...
  9. [Law] Re: "attempt to wrap"

No but I have been told many times on this site - and rather aggressively (!) - that Law 13 doesn't apply in the in goal.

Personally I think it may apply, but I certainly agree that it is never...

    Re: [RWC] 10m Law

? once you are played onside by a team mate you can stop retiring (you must have been already retiring up to then, of course)

    [Law] Re: Clock

I wouldnt necessarily stop them from taking a quick tap just because there is a card coming. I can (and have ) issued the card later.

    [Law] Re: Clock

I time off after a RC (so rare I forgot to add that)
  13. [Law] Re: "attempt to wrap"

not so - there seems to be a general convention that being on the ground and contesting for ball is ok in the in goal.

But in this instance he's on the field of play .. so it's different, and so...

    [Law] Re: Clock

I don't stop the clock for a card, and I don't stop the clock for a quick word with the captains either.

    Only for
    - injury
    - retrieving a lost ball (over fence, in hedge etc)
    - (judiciously)...

[Law] Re: Penalty Kick at Goal Rules

.8.25 Any player who intentionally touches the ball in an attempt to prevent a penalty goal being scored is illegally touching the ball
  17. [Law] Re: "attempt to wrap"

He wasn't in goal, though . He was in the Field of Play blocking the base of the posts.
It is a genuine question, are you allow to lie on the ground in front of the base of the posts (assuming you...
  18. [Law] Re: PK Shot at goal and arrival of kicking tee. What would you do ?

A tee on its own clearly doesn't count otherwise a spectator could throw one on and force it

So Law 6.29.b really seems to say the tee-man can only get the tee on the pitch after the decision is...
  19. [Law] Re: "attempt to wrap"

This has turned out to be question about *that* PT isn't it ?
  20. [Law] Re: "attempt to wrap"

Are you allowed to lie on the floor (ie out of the game) across the base of the posts ?

[RWC] Re: How are the RWC refs doing so far ?

I have a feeling NO would be absolutely delighted to do another one and has spent last twelve months doing everything he can to put himself in contention.

  22. [Law] Re: "attempt to wrap"

A player on the ground without the ball is out of the game and must:
Allow opponents who are not on the ground to play or gain possession of the ball.
    Not play the ball.
    Not tackle or attempt to...
  23. [Law] Re: PK Shot at goal and arrival of kicking tee. What would you do ?

Of note here 6.29.b says the kicking tee can only come on AFTER the players have indicated a kick
  24. [Law] Re: PK Shot at goal and arrival of kicking tee. What would you do ?

You can tell a coach to leave the enclosure. Not technically a RC but has same effect.

Not sure this would be serious enough to merit that though :)

You can't advance the PK though. Only an on...
  25. [Law] Re: PK Shot at goal and arrival of kicking tee. What would you do ?

joking aside - this has to be one of the oddest rules in the Law book, enabling the coach to dictate a decision like this by sending a tee on.

The French coaching team must have wished they had...
