    [Ruck] Re: scrum half protection

I'm genuinely in 2 minds on this one.

If an opponent is able to walk over the ruck and get to the ball unopposed - poor ruck defending and no obvious infringement.

However, I have a lot of...

Re: [6N] Eddie Jones Post Match Comments

So Eddie Jones doesn't apologise, his employer makes a half-arsed attempt at fanning the flames and then they propose a get-together because they have issues with referees and their interpretations....

    Hearings & mitigation

Can anyone help me here? My understanding was that if you contest a charge at your citing hearing but are found guilty nonetheless, you cannot receive mitigation?

Or is it that accepting the...

Re: [6N] Sco v Fra: Player on ground

It's funny. I have blown up for similar actions over the years that I've reffed and if there's been a question, my reply along the lines of "you're on the ground thus out of the game" has never been...

Re: [6N] Eddie Jones Post Match Comments

    My tuppence worth:

Framework & mitigating factors concern a tackle gone wrong.

Tuilagi's contact was never going to be deemed a tackle, through lack of arms, thus foul play from the outset.

    RC nailed on.

I'm thinking RC for the Scottish player running in from a distance after the whistle.

You're right I mixed venture and vulture.

I put CVC in the bird category, not the risk-takers category.

Re: 6 nations on pay per view?

Obviously it won't affect most of us here (I watch games online usually), but my fear is twofold.

First of all - venture capital exists to make a quick profit, not for the good of the...

    Re: Henshaw on May

Didds - the law reference is 15.D and May dives onto the ball which is still on the ground - Cooney hasn't yet lifted it.

May is standing at the side of the ruck, he wasn't a tackler and his angle...

    Re: Henshaw on May

2 glaring errors in 1 phase.

May is at the side of a ruck and dives on top of the ball as Cooney is assessing what to do with it. PK Green 100 times out of 100.

After the kick chase, Henshaw is...

[6N] Re: Wales v France - Did the ref bottle it?

For the deliberate KO claim, I felt it was a tackling motion the whole time and therefore not an action intended to kill the game. For me the key was the French player's focus - opponent and not...

[Law] Re: Uncontested lineout drive/ maul - penalty?

My conclusion is that the ref made an error. My logic:

No maul formed, ball at front with carrier - players allowed to move forward according to the directive.

Defenders left a gap for them to...

    [Tackle] Re: Open play, non-maul

OK - I disagree that a flying wedge is barred in open play. I do agree the wording needs to be made more clear.

    [Tackle] Re: Open play, non-maul

A flying wedge is only applicable when a penalty or free kick is awarded.

    It doesn't cover open play.

I have to say this is the first time I've ever seen this happen on a pitch.

    [Tackle] Open play, non-maul

    So in my game Saturday:

Open play, Red pass to a big second row in the middle of the pitch, and he's immediately joined by 3 teammates in a would-be maul formation. Ball at the front in the hands...
