Following a rugby injury acquired in my youth (only a little more than 2 years ago Mike) I have an overly bent right pinky with shortened tendons. On occasion when shaking hands, this pinky gets caught up in the hand shake. As a result I often get funny looks from people who clearly are not Masons and knowing nods from some who may be or who think that I might be.

Either that or my membership of the Bay City Rollers' fanclub has stood me in very good stead so far!

(shouts) no thanks ex-Lucy ! Already given my allocation to someone else as I would prefer to be out referee-ing and doing some good, than pay an outrageous sum of money to watch the English offer patheric resistance to the ABs.
(whispers) now if it was in Cardiff, that is a diferent matter

If you have your littly 'pinky' caught up in a hand shake no wonder you get funny looks!! and it is not that they think you are a mason....

Does the rugby law book tell you everything?

It was merely a suggested start point should you be genuinely interested rather than cynically dismissive.. (not that you are the latter of course )

    lol,

I have to say I spoke to the guys at work about this and they said that it is generally a myth, there have been occassions where it has help, but generally this is where people have found themselves out of work and need a job and fellow masons have done what they can to get them back into employment in a reasonable time frame, but not generally in promotion at work, as rugby you can reach a level where you are good but will not go higher if you are not up to it.

Like a band of brothers really, when I asked if there is a funny handshake or if that's a myth too they both laughed and one winked at me, so not sure... lol.

    So there we have it.

The essential qualifications for admission is that you have a belief in a Supreme Being

    Well that's me scuppered then.

Unless belief in Tony Spreadbury counts?

I've been a Freemason for 13 years this year, and a Ref for 2. I have never received any advantage in business or Rugby from my Masonic membership, and wouldn't want to - I like to achieve by merit.

There is much bollocks spoken about Freemasonry, so here's a couple of links for anyone who's interested.

http://www.ugle.org.ukThe United Grand Lodge of England
http://thefreemason.co./foruma Masonic Forum (of which I am a Moderator. Bit like a Masonic referee

BTW, the pinky has nothing to do with Masonic handshakes - you'll just have to take my word on that one!

Now you really have got me worried; it obviously meant something to some people but what and to whom?
