    Default Ball Hits Flag Post

If the ball hits the touch flag on the goal line bounces back into the field of play and rolls into touch, is the linout given on 5 metre line or has the ball deemed to have gone dead as it hit the flag.

    Dear Arsene Wenger,

Welcome to the forum. The recent law changes made the corner flag NOT itself in touch (even though located on the touch line), so when the ball (or a player) hits the flag or pole but does not touch the ground beyond it, the AR or linesman keeps his flag down. The ball remains in the field of play.

Strictly speaking, in the playing area (since it may well go into in-goal).
He trudg’d along unknowing what he sought,
And whistled as he went, for want of thought.
