Allowed a couple of scrums to end in a pile up with "play-on".
Needed to deal with Cardiff TH who took first 3 scrums down (all PK) but N.F.A. Scrum was a bit of a mess until Cardiff TH was subbed. Swansea had an advantage here and the lack of control here disadvantaged Swansea.
Allowed Swansea to concede too many penalties at ruck and maul without a warning or card.
Early YC for "Red Zone" offence by Cardiff: Fair enough.
Much better than the last "exchange" RFU ref we had. CTPE was there throughout and he seemed to enjoy the game.

The comments seem a bit negative but he was a tidy ref and I'd welcome seeing him ref Cardiff again.

Paul Knowles is a regular RFU Championship/National One official and, no, I doubt very much that he peruses this forum!

I wish more of our "amateur" match observers would come and join us to take up the clipboard officially ! We need more refereee coaches, mentors, advisers and match observers at all levels.
