I don't see it a lot, but when I do it's one particular University.

It's their tight head, who is no 1 in their lineout. He's really quite vocal telling the thrower to "hurry up hooker, c'mon, c'mon".

His problem is that it's coming out in a rich Aberdonian accent, which stands out a bit in the South. Almost makes it easy to just utter a very world weary "Oh for Gawd's sake Adam" and it stops. For 25 minutes.

God no. Outside of the FRB, that's a level or two of detail down from where I direct things.

Not worth looking like a pre judgy autocrat for something that one pithy comment can sort out. Added to which, opportunity to let the opposition see me taking control of things

You're surely not surprised that any of the gamesmanship traits of the pro's gets repeated further down the game's pyramid.

Which is why all Elite Ref's need to show strong leadership by firmly discouraging all such gamesmanship b...ocks.

My mind now recounts to Huget, who [rather than being firmly dealt with by NO for his QTI prevention] benefitted from a joint lecture with Mike Brown on "being treated like adults".

4/10 for NO on that occasion for me.

I had a hooker get very upset with me last year when I asked home to stop screaming at opposition line outs. He was clearly trying to put off and intimidate the opposition, and was none too pleased when I asked him to stop, and then penalised him when he continued.

This was a cultural issue with the entire team, captain was a nightmare, coaches worse and I've refused to referee them since. I'm a volunteer and I'm not going to put up with the sort of crap I was getting from these guys during and after a game.

Apparently the Lions' tactic was "ingenious",
    And it's spreading
