    Default Foot up

Yes, there was a genuine case of "foot up" sanctioned in today's game.
He trudg’d along unknowing what he sought,
And whistled as he went, for want of thought.

Of course it was. Well done the referee! (Spectators somewhat bemused - he forgot the signal.)

I bet a significant percentage of the crowd hadn't seen a FK for "Foot Up" in years.

I can't remember when I saw a televised one last.

The only one I that sticks in my mind was by our 3rd XV hooker. He had just dropped down from 1st XV captain and wanted some fun rugby. That meant not playing for the 2nds and constantly having to move up to the 1st again. In his day he had hooked for Oxfordshire and still had quick feet.

On this occasion he was so quick that when the scrumhalf adjusted the ball just before throwing it in, he struck it out of his hands. The referee was so surprised that he forgot to give the FK and merely told the scrum half to put it in properly.
