    Default Seems to me . . .

. . . that every 22DO I see is taken from the middle of the pitch. Don't players realize that they can kick it from anywhere across the pitch and gain options of where the ball drops?

it's true -- unless they are attempting one of those silly kick-it-50cm-and-regather-it dropouts

But why would you limit your angle by moving to one side or the other of the middle point of the 22m line?

Put more time in the air so the ball can go deeper and still get the chasers to the drop point. Plus, you can drop the ball anywhere along the 22 and put a pod on it.

But I'm just wondering whether that option is ever considered coz I never see it.

Maybe you would like to take the kick a few metres from the touch line to kick it directly to touch to finish the half!!!!

yes, if you kicked the dropout from one 15m line to the other 15m line, you would have time to position have whole pod of forwards to receive it, a respectable distance up the field
