Tell em it's Law 23 and smile
Thought Paul Williams was excellent today and contributed to a great game - was less impressed with Angus Gardner, thought a few of his calls were a bit harsh on Ireland.
My prediction for RWC2019 would be the 14 listed here bit minus Jackson (who's been off colour for a while) and one of Berry, Carley and Williams - whichever one doesn't go will be there as a TJ I'm sure and will no doubt be in the middle in 2023!
That was the first time I have ever seen Williams ref (so far as I recall anyway) ... I would definitely take him to the RWC, I thought that was a 6N baptism of fire , and I thought he was excellent. Any disagreements I have about specific decisions are basically quibbles. I thought he earned absolute trust from the players and should be really proud of himself ..
My prediction ..
The unlucky two are Ben O Keefe and Glen Jackson.
I don't know anything about Williams, but thought he had a great game. I like Gardner, he kept the rucks tighter than most do, but besides a couple of dodgy decisions there were a lot of reset scrums, and an offside line that disappeared for long stretches, same as Peyper had for WAL-ENG. Perhaps it's something to do with the Millennium stadium...
Watch the last couple of minutes of Wales v Ireland. A series of rucks near the Welsh line.
Look where the "offside" line is being reffed.
Gardiner reffing...
Hi didds .
Forget about the last couple of minutes .
Watch the whole 80 mins again .
Thank god ireland were boys amongst men yesterday .
And for that reason , the best team still won .
His penalty sanctions were too soft .
I do agree with penalty against sexton for lying on the ruck .
But for most other penalties ,, he was to much by the book & had no real feel for the game .
I actually felt sorry for angus ,,as he was clearly having a bad day at the office ..
FWIW, I felt that both WAL v IRE and ENG v SCO were two of the best-reffed matches in the entire 6N, with clear, consistent refereeing.
